A Day Full of Action

The day kicks off at the Alabama State House, where attendees will hear inspiring words from female legislators and policymakers in the historic House Chamber. Then, it's debate time!

Mansion Visit and More

Baldwin County Mayors Unite Behind Chris Elliott!

Hold the phone, ChumCityizens! All 14 mayors of Baldwin County's cities and towns have officially endorsed Chris Elliott for another term in the Alabama Senate! Yep, you heard that right – a united front showing some serious love for their current Senator.

Who's backing Elliott?

Elliott's district covers the heart of Baldwin County, including cities like Spanish Fort, Daphne, Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach, not to mention all those awesome unincorporated areas around 'em. This endorsement comes as Elliott faces a primary challenge from Foley's Mike Vandenheuvel.

Mayors Sound Off!

These local leaders are singing Elliott's praises for his work in Montgomery. Here's what a few of 'em had to say:

  • Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich: "Chris Elliott embodies the three things that you want in a state senator – he’s responsive, he’s reliable, and he’s relentless.”
  • Daphne Mayor Robin LeJune: "Sen. Elliott is involved in every important conversation taking place in the Alabama State House, which means Baldwin County’s interests are being represented in every important conversation taking place in Montgomery.”
  • Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan: "Chris Elliott is the fighter we need in Montgomery securing the resources that the Eastern Shore and the rest of Baldwin County deserve.”
  • Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon: "Thanks to the work of Sen. Chris Elliott, Baldwin County has tremendous influence when it comes to obtaining funding for roads, schools, and other projects, so it makes no sense to abandon our influence and go to the back of the line.”
  • Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft: "Chris puts the best interests of Baldwin County and the citizens he swore an oath to serve first, and he’s making sure our voices are heard in the committee rooms and chambers in Montgomery.”

The other mayors joining in with their endorsements include Perdido Beach Mayor Jimmy Street, Elberta Mayor Steve Kirkpatrick, Magnolia Springs Mayor Ross Houser, Silverhill Mayor Jared Lyles, Summerdale Mayor Randy Farris, Robertsdale Mayor Ruthie Campbell, Spanish Fort Mayor Brad Bass, Loxley Mayor Richard Teal, and Bay Minette Joshua Brown. Talk about a solid team!

Elliott's Response

Elliott, clearly stoked about the support, had this to say: "I am always guided by the voices and concerns of my constituents in Baldwin County because they have more common sense than all of those bureaucrats and politicians in Montgomery combined." He added that his goal is to respond immediately to any local official or concerned citizen, resolve their issue, and ensure they have received the attention and resolution they deserve.

Why this matters?

Elliott isn't just sitting around; he chairs the County and Municipal Government Committee and sits on the Senate General Fund budget committee, controlling nearly $4 billion each year! He also sits on numerous other committees, including the Joint Transportation Committee, where he's pushing for crucial road and bridge funding.

Fighting for Your $$$

Elliott's campaign also emphasizes his dedication to uncovering waste and fraud involving taxpayer dollars and his efforts to cut the state's sales tax on groceries. Basically, he's working to keep more money in your pocket!

Elliott, his wife Alainna, and their two children are active members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bon Secour.

DeBoer Stays Put: No Michigan Move for Tide Coach!

The rumor mill can officially chill! Kalen DeBoer is staying in Tuscaloosa, putting those Michigan coaching whispers to rest. After a rollercoaster season in his second year leading the Alabama Crimson Tide, DeBoer’s facing a massive challenge this Friday in Norman – round two against those pesky Oklahoma Sooners.

Distraction Deflection

For weeks, DeBoer’s been dodging questions about potential coaching gigs elsewhere, including Penn State and, more recently, Michigan. He previously shut down the Penn State chatter, emphasizing his happiness at Alabama.

Case Closed (For Now)?

But when Michigan surprisingly canned Sherrone Moore, DeBoer's name resurfaced immediately. While the Wolverines are still hunting for their next head honcho, DeBoer issued a definitive statement via Yea Alabama on Sunday, squashing any hopes of him heading to Ann Arbor.

All About the Tide

"My family and I are very happy in Tuscaloosa," the statement read. "I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama."

Byrne's Got His Back

Alabama AD Greg Byrne echoed the sentiment, expressing his excitement about having DeBoer leading the Tide. "He is an incredible coach," Byrne said. "Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him."

Focus on Oklahoma

While reports are swirling about a potential contract extension for DeBoer, the most important thing is that the Tide can now fully focus on Oklahoma. Those Sooners have been a thorn in Alabama's side, and the Tide needs to bring their A-game to keep their playoff dreams alive!
