Tide Rise in Playoff Rankings!

Alabama's Crimson Tide climbed from No. 10 to No. 9 in the playoff rankings before the SEC Championship, and trust us, it's HUGE!

Two Losses? No Problem!

With two losses already, there was talk a loss to Georgia might boot the Tide from the 12-team playoff. But that Iron Bowl victory over Auburn changed everything!

Impressive Resume

The committee clearly loves Alabama's 7-1 SEC record and killer schedule. They jumped Notre Dame, putting them in a much better spot.

Playoff Bound?

That single spot leap likely locks down a playoff berth for Bama, even with a loss to Georgia (unless something crazy happens, like a devastating injury situation or a massive blowout).

Focus on the Bulldogs

Of course, Coach DeBoer's focus is on beating Georgia and snagging an SEC title, which would probably mean a sweet first-round bye.

Stay Tuned, ChumCity!

It's gonna be a wild weekend, and we'll know who's in and who's out soon enough. But for now, Tide fans can exhale!

Moore Says "No Way" to Obamacare Subsidies... For Now!

Representative Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) isn't pulling any punches when it comes to those Obamacare subsidies. He's making it loud and clear he's not feeling an extension, even if it's just a band-aid fix.

Word on the street was that even Trump was considering a compromise last week - extending those sweet tax credits for a couple of years while slipping in some more conservative tweaks. But apparently, the White House backpedaled faster than you can say "repeal and replace" after some grumbling from the Republican side.

Talking Healthcare on the Airwaves

Moore, who's also eyeing a Senate seat in '26, tackled the hot topic on WVNN’s "The Yaffee Program" this week. He didn't mince words.

"It would depend on the reforms," Moore stated. "I would probably never vote for a two-year expansion, extension on subsidies. I probably wouldn’t vote for a one year because that money is just the taxpayers subsidizing the insurance companies. There are other things we can do reform wise, certainly allowing competitive plans across state lines... get the government out of it."

Sticker Shock Ahead?

Without action, some fear Obamacare premiums could skyrocket. Moore thinks just throwing more taxpayer cash at the problem isn't the answer. He's all about finding a real, long-term solution to actually lower healthcare costs.

"If we do those subsidies, that's just gonna make the insurance companies wealthier," he argued. "You're still not keeping your doctor, you're not keeping your plan, and you're going to have to go prior approval on every surgery, every MRI, everything you want to do."

A Glimmer of Hope?

Okay, so maybe there's a tiny crack in the door. Moore hinted he might consider a compromise, but only if it includes some seriously meaningful changes to the system.

"So there needs to be some serious reforms," he said. "For me to say I would vote for an extend on subsidies right now, I don't see it unless the reforms are pretty incredible, and it was a short term fix... to kind of help through the holidays, get people so we could get a plan that will really, really take care of the American people."

Obamacare: A Disaster?

Moore didn't hold back on his feelings about the Affordable Care Act itself. "Look, Obamacare is a disaster. We know that anytime government gets in these markets, they destroy them, and that's what has happened with healthcare. It's some of the worst in the country. We pay the worst in the world, and we pay the most for it. So there's a lot of work to be done there."

Montgomery Loses a Political Legend: Charlie Snider Sr. Passes at 93

Montgomery said goodbye to Charles S. "Charlie" Snider Sr. yesterday, December 1st, at the impressive age of 93. Charlie wasn't just a man; he was a living, breathing history book of Alabama politics, having witnessed the state's monumental shift from solid Democrat to solid Republican.

Wallace's Right-Hand Man

Snider's name is synonymous with Governor George Wallace's presidential ambitions. He masterfully steered Wallace's 1972 and 1976 campaigns, navigating the turbulent waters of national politics with skill and savvy.

Beyond Politics: Business Acumen and a Love of Flight

But Charlie was more than just a political strategist. He was a successful businessman, owning a thriving construction company, and a passionate pilot. His aviation expertise paved the way for him to coordinate transportation for Wallace's 1968 third-party run. His knack for handling diverse personalities quickly propelled him to National Chair for the '72 and '76 campaigns.

A Key Player in Alabama

Between presidential bids, Snider was crucial to Wallace's gubernatorial victories in 1970 and 1974, solidifying his position as a trusted advisor.

National Recognition, Local Loyalty

Even President Nixon recognized Snider's talent, offering him a role in the "Democrats for Nixon" campaign and later a position on the Federal Trade Commission. However, Snider's loyalty to Wallace and his potential 1976 run led him to decline the offer.

From Wallace to Bush, and Back to Alabama

Snider's political influence extended beyond Wallace. He worked with George H.W. Bush in the 1980 Republican primary and later played a vital role in the Reagan/Bush campaign. He also served as Director of the Alabama Development Office under Governor Fob James, leaving an indelible mark on the state's growth.

A Life Well-Lived

Born in Montgomery in 1932, Snider's passion for aviation led him to Auburn University for an Aeronautical Engineering degree. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, demonstrating his commitment to both his state and his country.

A Final Farewell

Visitation will be held at Frazer Memorial Church in Montgomery on Tuesday, December 9th, at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. A true Alabama icon will be laid to rest.

Monkey Business in Tillman's Corner!

Hold on to your hats, ChumCity! We've got a wild story brewing down in Tillman's Corner, that unincorporated spot southwest of Mobile. Word on the street is, about 15 monkeys are calling a residential property home, and the Feds are taking notice.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife, along with other law enforcement, made a return visit to a Schimpfs Lane address today, armed with a search warrant and suited up in protective gear. Seems they're pretty serious about these primates!

Caged Crusaders?

Four cages sit next to the house where the monkeys apparently reside. Neighbors are buzzing about how the homeowners take their furry friends for rides on golf carts. Talk about a unique joyride!

Legal Jungle?

It's unclear what laws, if any, have been broken. State and local regulations on animal cruelty and dangerous animal behavior could apply, but the Feds' involvement is still a mystery.

Starbucks Throwback?

Could this be related to that other monkey mayhem earlier this year at the Tillman's Corner Starbucks? Remember the woman with monkeys in her car? One even jumped through the window and nipped an employee!

The monkey's owner got a small fine then, but so far, there’s no connection between that incident and this current monkey investigation.

Stay tuned, ChumCity, this is one story that's sure to be bananas!

Election Integrity in Focus: Mobile Meeting Planned

With the 2026 midterms looming, election integrity is still a hot topic. A brand-new Alabama group, Concerned Citizens for Election Integrity, is stepping up to address those concerns. They're hosting a public presentation this Saturday, Dec. 6th, featuring election data whiz Douglas G. Frank!

Get Informed This Saturday!

Frank will be speaking and answering your questions starting at 10 a.m. at the Tillman’s Corner Senior Center (5863 Nevius Road, Mobile). The best part? Admission is totally free – no tickets or RSVP needed.

What's on the Agenda?

Organizers are calling it an informative community meeting, focusing on the future of Alabama elections and procedures. The goal? To help everyday Alabamians understand what's happening and get engaged.

Hear From the Expert

Dr. Douglas G. Frank, a nationally recognized election integrity researcher and data analyst, will be there to break down the current vulnerabilities in our election systems. He’ll also share proven reforms to boost voter confidence and practical ways citizens can enhance transparency and trust in the voting process.

"That Ain't Natural, Buddy!"

Dr. Frank famously discovered algorithms in voter rolls that seemed to predict the 2020 election outcomes with uncanny accuracy. He believes this points to vulnerabilities that were exploited in 2020 and haven't been fixed since.

The "Churn" in Alabama's Voter Rolls

Wayne Christopher, one of the event organizers, notes, "The unnatural ‘churn’… found in voter rolls of every county of every state…is occurring in Alabama’s voter rolls as well." He claims an unidentified influence is inflating voter rolls with illegitimate registrations before elections, then removing them after.

Regaining Control?

Christopher suggests that this problem started around 2012 when county officials lost control of their voter rolls, and the state consolidated them into a large database.

Rep. James Lomax, representing Alabama House District 20 (that's Huntsville's booming southeast!), has snagged a big endorsement. The Alabama Farmers Federation is backing him for his 2026 run!

A Conservative Champion?

Charles Butler, prez of the Madison County Farmers Federation, gave Lomax a glowing review, saying he "works hard" and will continue being a "strong conservative voice" in Montgomery.

Big Deal Endorsement

The Alabama Farmers Federation is a major player, representing over 360,000 families. Their endorsement, via FarmPAC, is seriously sought-after in Alabama politics.

Lomax: Huntsville Homeboy

Lomax, a lifelong Huntsville dude, is VP at Corporate Office Properties Trust. He's all about supporting local agriculture, saying he shares "the same conservative values and principles" as Madison County farmers.

Deep in the Weeds (of Legislation)

Senator Tuberville Sounds Off on Drug War

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is coming to the defense of the Trump administration's hardline stance against drug trafficking in the Caribbean.

Taking Aim at Cartel Boats

Since last September, under the direction of President Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, military strikes have targeted cartel boats suspected of smuggling drugs into the US. This has sparked some serious debate.

Dems Question Authority

Several Democratic lawmakers have raised concerns, suggesting these military actions require Congressional authorization.

Tuberville's Take

Tuberville, a potential Alabama gubernatorial candidate in 2026, tackled the issue head-on during a recent appearance on WVNN's "The Dale Jackson Show." He questioned why some politicians seemed more worried about the drug cartels than the safety of American citizens. "It’s a mystery to me why elected leaders up here are concerned about these narco-terrorists more than they are American citizens," he stated, emphasizing the devastating impact of drugs on young Americans and praising Trump's efforts to cut off the supply.

A Long-Standing Battle

Tuberville asserted that the U.S. has been essentially at war with drug cartels for years, not just a few months. He defended Secretary Hegseth against accusations of war crimes related to a second strike on a drug boat, labeling Hegseth the second most attacked person in D.C. after Trump. He believes this is because Hegseth is working to restore the military's strength and has been unfairly targeted, even by Republicans.

Hold on to your hats, ChumCity! Master Boat Builders is making some serious waves with a huge $60 million investment right here in coastal Alabama! They're building a brand-new, state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility focused on supporting our U.S. military.

A Shipbuilding Powerhouse is Coming!

This isn't just any upgrade; it's a full-blown expansion. The new 150,000-square-foot manufacturing center will be located on a 20-acre site across Bayou Coden from their current location. Think bigger, better, and dedicated entirely to government and defense contracts.

Meeting the Nation's Needs

Garrett Rice, president of Master Boat Builders, says this expansion is all about meeting the growing demand for federal shipbuilding. "This new facility is about building more capability here at home," he said. It's about creating a stronger maritime industrial base for the whole nation!

What's in Store?

Expect a cutting-edge assembly building designed for cranking out steel and aluminum ships, plus fabrication of complex modules for those crucial federal programs. They're even diving into the U.S. Coast Guard’s Domestic Icebreaker program.

Local Talent Building the Future

Mobile-based Thompson Engineering and RJ Baggett are leading the development of this impressive facility. And guess what? They're also building expanded workforce training space to nurture the next generation of skilled Gulf Coast shipbuilders!

Alabama Football Drama?

Newsweek's got a "deeply concerning" report out, but honestly, it sounds kinda hilarious. They're saying Coach Kalen DeBoer might be eyeing that Penn State job and isn't all that thrilled in Alabama. Could this be the end of an era before it even began?!

Monkey Business in Mobile

Yikes! Mobile County deputies raided a Tillman's Corner home and found about 15 caged monkeys. Apparently, they were living the high life, tooling around on golf carts! This comes after a monkey attack on a Starbucks employee, leading to citations and fines. It sounds bananas!

Cuellar's Pardon & Border Brouhaha

President Trump pardoned U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), who was accused of taking a cool $600,000 in bribes from Azerbaijan and Mexico. Cuellar's firing back, claiming the charges were politically motivated because he dared to criticize Biden's border policy! Looks like things are getting spicy.

Birmingham Shooting Footage Released

Birmingham PD has dropped bodycam and security footage of the Jamal Williams shooting. They say the footage shows Williams pulled a gun on officers, justifying the fatal shot. The incident unfolded after a Shot Spotter alert at a public housing complex.

Tuberville Slams "Seditious Six"

Tommy Tuberville is not happy with some Democrat lawmakers. He's calling them the "Seditious Six" for allegedly urging military personnel to disobey lawful orders. Tuberville says this kind of behavior is dangerous and undermines military discipline.

Airstrike Controversy Deepens

The fallout continues from those U.S. airstrikes on a drug boat. Two survivors who went back to salvage drugs were killed, prompting "war crimes" accusations and demands for investigations. War Secretary Hegseth is calling it "fog of war," defending the Adm. Frank Bradley's order amid the deaths.

Moore Weighs in on Obamacare Subsidies

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore says he's unlikely to support extending Obamacare subsidies, slamming them as corporate welfare. However, he might back them if they come with some serious reforms—like cross-state competition and customized plans—to cut government overreach and costs.
