Alabama's Booming Economy!

Governor Kay Ivey just dropped a bombshell: a record-breaking $14.6 BILLION investment headed our way! That means 9,388 new jobs popping up across the state, thanks to 234 awesome projects in fields like bioscience, tech, auto, and aerospace. Think Eli Lilly's mega-facility in Huntsville, ArcelorMittal's massive plant in Mobile, and a serious upgrade to Georgia Pacific's Monroe County mill. Alabama's open for business, baby!

AHSAA Drama!

Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth is NOT happy with the Alabama High School Athletic Association's decision to split public and private school playoffs. He's calling it unfair, saying it kills competition and throws sportsmanship out the window. Senator Donnie Chesteen is pumping the brakes on his AHSAA overhaul bill (SB73) for now, but promises to keep the conversation going and make sure everyone gets a say, especially with all the CHOOSE Act eligibility mess.

Gambling Debate Continues

Rep. Joe Lovvorn wants to keep talking about legalizing gambling in Alabama. He points out all the existing (and illegal!) casinos, plus the tax revenue we're missing out on while neighboring states cash in. He's pushing for a responsible solution, but let's be real, getting everyone to agree on this is going to be tough.

Winter Storm Woes

Power outages and slick roads are STILL causing headaches across Alabama thanks to that crazy winter storm. It wreaked havoc all the way from New Mexico to New England, canceling almost 10,000 flights! Stay safe out there, ChumCity!

Trump Endorses Tuberville?!

Hold on to your hats! President Trump has officially endorsed Tommy Tuberville (yes, the football coach!) for Alabama's next governor. He's praising Tuberville's work in the Senate and his fundraising prowess, hinting at a potential rematch with Doug Jones.

Minneapolis Mayhem

Serious tensions are flaring up in Minneapolis after Border Patrol agents fatally shot an ICU nurse. Protests are popping up, and the National Guard has been deployed. AG Pam Bondi is urging the governor to support ICE and ditch sanctuary policies. Meanwhile, CEOs and sports teams are calling for everyone to chill out.

Alabama Dems React to Minnesota

Alabama Democrats are not holding back when it comes to the situation in Minneapolis. Expect fiery statements and accusations flying!

Brrr! It's a Freezer Out There, Chum!

Okay, ChumCity Citizens, bundle up! We're starting the day with temperatures colder than a polar bear's toenails, even down to the Gulf Coast! Remember all that rain we had? And those sneaky little snow flurries? Well, North Alabama roads might be playing hide-and-seek with black ice. South Alabama, keep your eyes peeled too – any standing water is likely now a skating rink. Drive slow and steady!

The Week Ahead: Chill Vibes Only

The week's looking cold but mostly dry. Maybe a sprinkle of rain for our southern neighbors on Friday. But hold on tight, because another blast of arctic air is headed our way this weekend! Expect lows in the 10-15 degree range for North Alabama Saturday and Sunday mornings. Yikes!

No Snowmageddon (For Now!)

The good news? No major snow or ice storms are on the horizon for the next week or so. We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief!

Blast From the Past: A Somber Reminder

On this date in 1974, a devastating F3 tornado ripped through Randolph County. The twister caused significant damage, destroying homes and tragically claiming the life of a young child. Let's take a moment to remember those impacted by this event.

Tuberville Tackles Taxpayer Fraud!

Senator Tommy Tuberville is stepping up to bat against government waste, folks! He's teaming up with other GOP senators to launch a brand-new task force dedicated to sniffing out fraud and abuse in programs funded by your hard-earned tax dollars.

This watchdog group comes hot on the heels of some serious discoveries in Minnesota, where widespread fraud in the child-care subsidy system has raised major red flags.

Focusing on the Fundamentals

The task force will be laser-focused on three key areas: health care, education, and labor and pensions. Tuberville himself will be co-leading the subcommittee digging into education-related programs, working alongside Senator John Husted of Ohio.

No More Handouts for the Crooks!

"The American people voted loud and clear to cut out the waste, fraud, and abuse," Tuberville stated. "After losing billions to shady operations, it's time to get serious. We must tackle this issue head-on to ensure corrupt politicians never misuse Americans' money again!"

Stop Fraud by SOMALIA Act!

Tuberville isn't just talking; he's taking action! He recently introduced the Stop Fraud by Strengthening Oversight and More Accountability for Lying and Illegal Activity (Stop Fraud by SOMALIA) Act. This bill aims to put the brakes on fraud in federal child care programs, ensuring that every cent gets to the kids who need it. The Stop Fraud by SOMALIA Act would mean stiff penalties for child care providers who get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Permanent bans, repayment of stolen funds, and potential criminal investigations! No more Mr. Nice Guy!

Minnesota Shooting: More Mayhem?

Another shooting in Minnesota. It's heartbreaking, and frankly, feels preventable. But instead of solutions, are the media and their Democrat pals just stirring up more trouble?

Ignoring the Noise

The calls to shut down ICE or halt operations in Minnesota? Most folks following this story will probably tune that noise right out. It's not helpful.

Play Stupid Games...

Bottom line: interfering with police operations is a bad idea. Anyone who gets hurt doing so? Well, they're making some seriously questionable choices.

Trump's One-Year Mark: How Alabama's Benefiting

It's been a year since President Trump took office with a mission: America first. And guess what? It's not just talk. Alabamians are seeing real results in their wallets and communities.

Lower Costs, Real Relief

Families across Alabama are breathing easier thanks to falling inflation – down a whopping 70% from those crazy Biden-era peaks!

Gas Prices Plummet

Remember those painful trips to the pump? Gas prices are the lowest they've been since 2021, dropping almost 30 cents in the past year. Plus, rent's been declining for five straight months.

Even Eggs Are Cheaper!

Even everyday essentials like eggs are 31.3% cheaper. And wages? They're finally keeping pace with inflation, with our hard-working folks in manufacturing, mining, and logging seeing some serious gains. That's a win for construction crews, shipbuilders, and everyone powering Alabama's economy.

Energy Independence & Small Business Boosts

Trump's reignited American energy, boosting our grid and lowering costs. Record oil and gas production, expanded leasing – it all adds up to independence and job creation. The focus is back on what's best for us, cutting through the red tape that bogged things down the last few years. The Small Business Administration's moving faster, delivering assistance to rural communities and family businesses – a lifeline for our state.

Securing the Border

The border is finally secure, with zero illegal aliens released into the US for eight straight months. Encounters are down 95% compared to the previous administration.

Reining in Washington

President Trump is tackling the Washington bureaucracy head-on, making the government more accountable and transparent. Deregulation has saved us all a ton of money, wasteful contracts are getting axed, and taxpayer dollars are protected.

Promises Kept

One year in, and President Trump is delivering. Promises made, promises kept!

Ainsworth Slams AHSAA Decision

Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth is throwing major shade at the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), and it sounds like he's not alone!

Latest Controversy

Ainsworth is blasting AHSAA's recent move to separate private and public schools for championship showdowns. He calls it just the latest head-scratching decision from the organization.

Ainsworth's Fiery Words

"Unfair," "unsportsmanlike," and even "mean-spirited" are just some of the adjectives Ainsworth is slinging at AHSAA President Heath Harmon and his board. He took to Facebook to vent his frustrations over the new classification system.

The CHOOSE Act Mess

Adding fuel to the fire, AHSAA is also under fire for how it's handling CHOOSE Act funds. Treating the funds as "financial aid" triggers a policy forcing transfer athletes receiving the money to sit out a year. Ainsworth says his inbox is flooded with concerns from coaches, administrators, and parents from both public and private schools.

Alabama: An Island of Separation?

Ainsworth points out that Alabama is on track to be one of only a handful of states barring public and private schools from competing against each other. He, along with many others, are hoping the AHSAA will rethink its strategy.

Reform on the Horizon?

Could change be brewing in Montgomery? State Sen. Donnie Chesteen has introduced legislation aimed at completely overhauling the AHSAA's structure.

"Unintended Consequences"

Ainsworth emphasizes his deep concern for student athletes, believing AHSAA's actions are causing more harm than good. He highlights "unintended consequences" and "chaos" from losing private school teams in playoff regions.

Money Matters

He also points out the loss of gate revenue due to long commutes and the end of historic rivalries. This particularly hurts small towns and counties that rely on that money to fund their programs.

A Plea for Fair Play

Ultimately, Ainsworth is hoping for a level playing field where every student athlete has the opportunity to compete fairly. He wants a system where the best team wins, plain and simple.

Alabama Schools: Time to Get Creative!

Alabama's growing and, so must our solutions to pressing community needs. Right now, we're facing a teacher shortage, and it's time to think outside the box!

A New Opportunity: Veterans in the Classroom

That's why I've introduced the Military Veteran Temporary Teaching Certificate (SB149) – a fantastic opportunity to tackle this head-on! This certificate lets qualified veterans teach in specific subjects, even without the usual bachelor's degree requirement.

Why Veterans?

Veterans bring service, resilience, and leadership to the table - exactly what our classrooms need! They've got specialized, high-quality training from their time in the military. They've overcome challenges in high-pressure situations. Who better to inspire our kids?

Real-World Experience Makes a Difference

Imagine a math class taught by a former Navy electronics whiz or a history lesson brought to life by an Army officer with firsthand knowledge of global affairs! This expertise will make learning more engaging and impactful.

Supporting Veterans, Strengthening Schools

This bill strengthens our teacher recruitment and creates a meaningful pathway for Alabama's veterans to continue serving. Our students, our veterans, and our communities across Alabama will all benefit. Plus, it aligns with our goal of making Alabama the most military-friendly state!

A Win-Win for Alabama

By giving veterans a fulfilling career path in education, we enrich our schools and encourage them to stay and thrive in our communities. This isn't just about filling classrooms, it's about honoring the contributions of our veterans and shaping a brighter future for the next generation. Let's welcome them into the noble profession of teaching!
