Tide Rolls Over Tigers (Again!)

The Alabama Crimson Tide just stomped the Auburn Tigers on their home turf at Neville Arena again this Saturday. And you know what? Coach Nate Oats was absolutely loving it!

Oats Fires Back at Auburn Fans

After Bama's big win, Oats was quizzed about Auburn fans booing former Tiger-turned-Crimson-Tide guard Aden Holloway. Holloway, you see, transferred from Auburn to Alabama. Oats didn't hold back.

"Quiet When We Left Today"

Oats, sporting a grin, remarked, "Charles [Bediako] took a little bit off of [Holloway] today. I think he’s fine. He knew it was coming. That’s what they do. But they were pretty quiet when we left today. The best way to quiet them is to win on the scoreboard. He’s 2-0 coming back here, so pretty good record for him coming back into Neville.”

Holloway Shines

Holloway dropped a cool 15 points with 4 assists. Leaving Auburn with another W has got to feel extra good after catching heat from the crowd all game long!

Streaming: My Generation's Story

Growing up, streaming was everything. No more channel surfing, no more waiting for DVDs. We clicked, we watched, we ruled our entertainment destiny. That's still the reality for many young folks and families, especially in Alabama's rural, college, and military towns. Affordable streaming is how we connect to the world – news, culture, the whole shebang. It's not some new fad; it's how America entertains itself.

The Streaming Struggle Is Real

Remember that freedom? It's kinda fading. Now, we're juggling a ridiculous number of subscriptions just to watch our faves. And with costs going up, entertainment budgets are feeling the squeeze. Gas, groceries, and endless streaming bills? Something's gotta give.

Why This Netflix-Warner Bros. Discovery Merger Matters

This merger? It's actually a smart move. Two platforms become one, giving us more content in one easy spot. Plus, a ton of HBO Max folks already subscribe to Netflix! We're paying double for some of the same stuff. A combined service could mean more movies and shows, all at a lower price. Sounds pretty good, right?

Competition? Still Thriving!

Don't buy the hype about a monopoly. Even with Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery joining forces, we've got options! Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Paramount+, YouTube, and even Tubi are all fighting for our eyeballs. YouTube alone blows away traditional streaming. And let's not forget TikTok and Instagram! The entertainment game is fierce.

Boosting American Entertainment

This deal actually makes the industry stronger, giving American entertainment a leg up in a global race. Foreign-owned platforms are coming for our crown, and we need companies with the scale and the smarts to compete. Netflix has already poured tons of cash into U.S. production and created jobs. If we want America to stay on top, we need to back our players.

Freedom of Expression Matters

Netflix doesn’t censor based on ideology, which is awesome. They're even expanding faith-based and family-friendly content. A healthy American studio scene means more voices get heard.

Let the Market Work!

Blocking this deal would be unfair and maybe even politically motivated. Young people are tired of politics messing with everything. We want the market to do its thing, without unnecessary interference.

For a generation that digs choice, innovation, and affordability, this merger makes total sense. It's the next logical step in streaming's evolution. It simplifies things, strengthens U.S. jobs, and helps America stay the entertainment leader. Let's get out of the way and let it work!

A Legacy of Impact

Wahl Touts Trump's Backing in New Campaign Vid

John Wahl, the former ALGOP Chairman and now a contender for Lieutenant Governor, just dropped his first campaign video, and it's got some serious star power! Wahl is banking on an endorsement from none other than President Donald Trump, who appears in the video.

Trump's Seal of Approval

According to Wahl, Trump gave him the nod on Truth Social just before Wahl jumped into the race. In the video, Trump says, "John has been with us from the very beginning, and has been key to our many Republican Victories in the Great State of Alabama." Big words!

The Poll Numbers Tell a Different Tale...

Despite the high-profile endorsement, recent polls show Wahl trailing behind Secretary of State Wes Allen. Allen clocks in at 23%, while Wahl sits at 6%. A whopping 59% of voters are still playing the field.

"Fighting for Alabama’s Future"

The video, titled "Fighting for Alabama’s Future," highlights Wahl's vision for the state, emphasizing faith, family, freedom, and good ol' Alabama common sense.

What Wahl Has to Say

"As chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, I’ve been on the front lines as we defend our values and fight for our freedoms," Wahl states in the video. He adds, "Alabama deserves bold, principled leadership that puts families first, defends our God-given rights, and restores limited government.”

A Message for Alabama Families

Wahl's message centers on Alabama families and preserving American values for future generations. "This campaign is about protecting our values, strengthening our state, and leading the nation with commonsense policies that restore the American Dream,” he said. “I’m running to serve the people of Alabama and to fight for a future our children and grandchildren can be proud of.”

Alabama Cannabis Licensing Back on Track!

Big news, ChumCity stoners! The Alabama Court of Civil Appeals just gave the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) a major win, tossing out a lawsuit that was gumming up the works.

What Happened?

Remember those companies, like Jemmstone Alabama LLC and others, that didn't get their cannabis licenses? They took the AMCC to court, claiming the licensing process was totally bogus.

Court Says: "Hold Up!"

The court basically said the lower court never should have heard the case! They argued that since the AMCC hadn't even issued final licenses yet, the companies didn't have anything to challenge in court. Boom!

Good News for Cannabis in Alabama?

This ruling removes a major roadblock and supports the AMCC's position that everyone needs to follow their administrative process before running to the courthouse.

Hearings are Already Happening

Those administrative hearings, overseen by a former Supreme Court Justice, have been going on since last summer.

Medical Cannabis by 2026?

The AMCC is moving forward! They even voted to award dispensary licenses back in December. AMCC Chairman Rex Vaughan thinks qualified patients could be puffing on medical cannabis as early as Spring 2026. Fingers crossed, ChumCity!

So, ICE racked up around 393,000 arrests in what would have been Trump's second term. The media's hyper-focused on the "only 14% are violent criminals" angle. But hold up! DUI, drug trafficking, and even child exploitation are often categorized differently. Are we seriously splitting hairs here? Let's be real, folks – these aren't exactly model citizens we're talking about.

2. Alabama's Education Getting Some Love!

Barry Moore's hitting the airwaves with his first ad in the Alabama Senate race. The message? He's "Trump's choice" and he's all about "America First." Taxes, border security, military – you name it, Moore's tying it to Trump. Looks like the Trump card is definitely in play.

5. Maxwell's Playing the Fifth!

Fleeing the Scene: A Danger to Us All

When someone decides to ditch the cops, it's not just their problem. It instantly becomes a threat to our neighborhoods, our highways, and innocent folks just trying to get home. That's why upping the ante on Alabama's laws regarding attempts to elude police isn't just sensible, it's downright necessary.

Making Eluding a Felony: A Needed Change

We're all in on the idea of making attempting to elude a felony. This means real consequences for behavior that already poses very real and often tragic risks.

Why It Matters

Trying to outrun law enforcement isn't some harmless joyride. High-speed chases and reckless attempts to evade put lives at immediate risk: the officers sworn to protect us, pedestrians, fellow drivers, and even passengers in the suspect's car. Every pursuit has the potential for disaster, and too often, that potential turns into a heartbreaking reality.

Current Penalties Don't Cut It

Right now, the punishment doesn't match the crime. Under current law, attempting to elude police carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine. For something that can escalate into deadly force in seconds, that’s simply not enough. This legislation would appropriately raise the stakes, sending a clear message that fleeing from the police is not a game, a momentary lapse in judgment, or something we'll just shrug off.

Accountability Matters

Sure, some might argue tougher penalties won't deter those already breaking the law. But accountability still matters! Laws aren't just about punishment; they're about setting boundaries to protect the public. Making eluding a felony says that Alabama recognizes the seriousness of this behavior and prioritizes community safety.

It's About Safer Streets

This isn't about criminalizing fear or encouraging over-policing. It's about discouraging actions that predictably lead to injury, loss of life, and chaos on our roads. Law enforcement doesn't start chases on a whim, and suspects who run are making a conscious decision to endanger everyone around them. Strengthening this law is a common-sense move toward safer streets, safer officers, and safer communities. Alabama needs to make it happen.

Fleeing the Law: More Than Just a Quick Getaway

When someone decides to ditch the cops, it's not just their life on the line. That reckless decision puts everyone else in danger, too! We're talking neighborhoods, highways, and families just trying to get home safe.

That's why beefing up Alabama's laws on running from the police is a no-brainer. It's plain necessary.

We're all for making "attempting to elude" a felony. Let's face it: right now, it's just a slap on the wrist!

HB37 and SB233: Raising the Stakes

Under bills sponsored by Rep. Reed Ingram and Sen. Lance Bell, what's currently a misdemeanor would become a felony. This change would mean real consequences for seriously dangerous behavior.

Trying to ditch the cops isn't a harmless prank. High-speed chases are lethal. Think about the officers, the pedestrians, other drivers, and even the suspect's own passengers.

Every Chase is a Potential Disaster

Every police pursuit has the potential for serious injury or death, and all too often, that potential becomes reality.

The current penalties don’t reflect the seriousness of the danger. Currently, it's just a year in jail and a $6,000 fine.

For something that can turn deadly in seconds, that's not enough! This legislation would allow for a sentence of 366 days to five years in prison, sending a clear message: running from the police isn't a game.

Why Tougher Laws Matter

Some might say harsher penalties won't deter anyone. But accountability matters. Laws aren't just about punishment, they're about protecting the public. Making "eluding" a felony sends a message that Alabama recognizes the danger and prioritizes safety.

This isn't about over-policing or criminalizing fear. It's about discouraging behavior that predictably leads to injury, death, and chaos.

Cops don't start chases lightly, and those who choose to flee are consciously endangering everyone around them.

Safer Streets, Safer Communities

Lives are on the line when suspects run from the police.

Strengthening this law is a common-sense step toward safer streets, safer officers, and safer communities. Alabama needs to get this done!
