Tide Roll Over Auburn in Thrilling Showdown!

Nate Oats has injected some serious life into Alabama basketball, and Saturday night's game against Auburn in Coleman Coliseum was a prime example! With the stakes sky-high – potentially crushing Auburn's tournament dreams – the atmosphere was absolutely electric.

Domination on the Court

The Crimson Tide cruised to a 96-84 victory, dominating the game from the jump. It was a statement win, plain and simple!

Oats Gives Shoutout to the Students

After the game, Coach Oats made sure to give props to the students for the incredible energy they brought to the arena. "A lot of positives to come from this game. We have the best student section in the SEC, and I really appreciate what they’ve given us all year," Oats said, clearly impressed.

Senior Night Success

Oats also celebrated the team's seniors, praising their contributions to the team's culture. He highlighted Houston Mallette's selfless attitude, Latrell Wrightsell's recent performance boost, and Noah Williamson's unwavering positivity. "Those three guys to get a win on senior night, I couldn’t be happier for them."

Next Stop: SEC Tournament!

Alabama heads to the SEC Tournament in Nashville as the No. 2 seed after wrapping up the regular season with a stellar 23-8 record (13-5 in conference play). After earning a double bye, they'll face either Georgia or the winner of Ole Miss vs. Texas on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals on Friday night. Roll Tide!

Wild Weather Wreaks Havoc in Central Alabama!

Hold on to your hats, ChumCity citizens! Mother Nature threw a bit of a tantrum on Monday, and parts of Central Alabama felt the rumble. Strong storms swept through, leaving a trail of downed trees, damaged buildings, and power outages in their wake.

Winston County Takes a Hit

Our friends in Winston County saw some serious structural damage near Haleyville, particularly in the Pebble community near Highway 195. Thankfully, while a shed and a vacant home took a beating, everyone walked away unscathed!

Truck Troubles in Fayette County

Meanwhile, over in Fayette County, word on the street is that some wicked winds may have even flipped an 18-wheeler on Highway 13 near Berry. Thankfully, legendary meteorologist James Spann reports that the driver is A-OK!

Jefferson County Cluttered with Chaos

Jefferson County didn't escape the wrath either. Multiple trees came crashing down on Johns Road, Ground Hog Road, and Seally Ann Mountain Road, taking power lines with them. Roads were temporarily closed as crews worked tirelessly to clear the mess.

Power Restored (Mostly!)

A huge shout-out to Alabama Power! Their crews worked around the clock to bring electricity back to over 27,000 customers who were left in the dark.

More Mayhem on the Horizon?

But wait, there's more! Alabama Power warns that western Alabama could see more storms. And James Spann is keeping a close eye on Central Alabama, hinting at another possible round of strong storms on Wednesday. Stay safe out there, ChumCity! This wild weather ride isn't over yet!

Senate Race Shakeup! Trump's Influence at Play?

Looks like the race for U.S. Senate in Alabama just got a whole lot less crowded! Morgan Murphy, a former Trump official and staffer for Senator Tommy Tuberville, is throwing in the towel, but not without a twist.

Murphy Bows Out, Backs Moore

Murphy announced on Tuesday that he's pulling out of the Senate race, citing President Trump's endorsement of Congressman Barry Moore. In a video statement, Murphy emphasized Trump's leadership and said he "deserves the senator he wants." Talk about loyalty! He's now throwing his weight behind Moore, who he says has a strong conservative track record.

What the Polls Say

Recent polling showed Moore leading with 22%, followed by Marshall at 16%, and Hudson at 12%. But here's the kicker: nearly half (47%) of Republican voters are still undecided! This race is far from over.

From Senate to House?

But wait, there's more! Murphy isn't leaving the political arena entirely. Instead, he's redirecting his campaign funds to run for U.S. House, aiming to flip a "Blue House seat" in Alabama. He says he wants to help keep the House in conservative hands and support Trump's agenda. Which Democratic representative will he be challenging? He's keeping us guessing!

Moore Grateful for Endorsement

Moore, for his part, is stoked to have Murphy's support. He released a statement saying he appreciates Murphy's endorsement, calling him a fellow veteran with "valuable expertise."

Campaign Cash Shift

Murphy's campaign raised a cool $1,057,949, and now that cash is heading to a House race. Get ready for some action! It's all about keeping the House in conservative hands and "making America great again," according to Murphy. What a rollercoaster!

Saban's Take on College Sports Gets a Defender!

Nick Saban caught some heat after President Trump's college sports roundtable. But guess what? Some folks are actually backing up what Saban's saying!

What's the Fuss About?

The legendary Crimson Tide coach chatted about student-athletes getting a solid education and building real value beyond just chasing the biggest paycheck.

DeSantis to the Rescue!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis swooped in to defend Saban!

"Coach Saban is spot on," DeSantis posted. He went on to say that Saban supports players earning money through NIL, but knows the current system isn't sustainable. "Reform is needed – and needs to happen soon."

Setting the Record Straight

DeSantis doubled down, calling out the "false and manufactured narratives" surrounding Saban's comments. He clarified that you can support players' rights to earn money and acknowledge that the current "collective" model has serious flaws.

A Fair Point?

These days, questioning caps on player earnings sparks instant reactions. Saban, like SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, is being accused of wanting an SEC-dominated system where only they can pay players, giving them an unfair advantage.

Looking Out for the Players?

But here's the thing: Saban's helped tons of young guys become NFL stars and successful adults. He believes he's doing what's best for student-athletes in the long run.

Whether college sports can go back to prioritizing education and long-term success, both on and off the field, remains to be seen. But having Saban's voice in the mix definitely helps!

Alabama AG Fumes Over Governor's Commutation of Death Row Inmate

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is spitting mad over Governor Kay Ivey's last-minute decision to commute the death sentence of Charles "Sonny" Burton, just days before his scheduled execution.

Marshall's Fury

"I am deeply disappointed," Marshall stated, taking a swipe at media portrayals. He insisted Burton wasn't just some harmless old geezer but a cold-blooded murderer. Marshall argues Burton orchestrated an armed robbery where an army vet lost his life.

Governor's Reasoning

Ivey, however, defended her commutation to life in prison without parole, explaining that Burton "did not shoot the victim, did not direct the triggerman to shoot the victim and had already left the store by the time the shooting occurred.”

Disagreement Over Accomplice Liability

Marshall, who is eyeing a U.S. Senate seat, isn't buying it. He blasted Ivey's reasoning, emphasizing Alabama's "accomplice liability" laws. In his view, Burton is just as guilty as the shooter. He thinks a jury already rightfully held him responsible for the death of Douglas Battle.

The Crime

Burton was convicted in 1992 for the death of Battle during a robbery at a Talladega AutoZone. The actual shooter, Derrick DeBruce, also got a death sentence, later commuted to life. He died in prison in 2020.

No Special Treatment!

Marshall claims Burton doesn't deserve "special treatment" just because he's old. He argues Burton dragged out his case with endless appeals. The AG believes Burton should face the punishment a jury decided on.

Faith in Justice

Marshall wants Alabamians to keep the faith in their justice system. As long as he's AG, he vows to fiercely punish violence against innocent folks.

More Criticism

Katherine Robertson, a potential AG candidate in 2026, also voiced her disagreement, even taking a dig at Democrats for supporting the commutation.

Senate Race Shakeup in Alabama!

Looks like a certain former President might have some serious sway in the Alabama political scene. Morgan Murphy, a former Trump official who also worked for Senator Tommy Tuberville, just announced he's dropping out of the U.S. Senate race.

Murphy Bows Out, Endorses Moore

Why the change of heart? Murphy is throwing his support behind U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, citing Trump's endorsement as a major factor. Murphy stated Trump "deserves the senator he wants" and highlighted Moore's "strong conservative track record."

Polling Data

Recent polling data from Remington Research Group showed Moore leading with 22%, followed by Marshall at 16%, and Hudson at 12%. However, a whopping 47% of Republican voters were still undecided.

Focusing on the House

Instead of battling fellow Republicans, Murphy is redirecting his campaign funds – over a cool million dollars! – to flip a House seat from blue to red. He didn't specify which House race he's targeting, but he wants to keep the House in "conservative hands." Moore expressed his gratitude for Murphy's endorsement.

ChumCity News Round-Up!

Alright, Chumblers, buckle up for today's wild ride through the political jungle!

Trump's Polls & "Peace President" Claims: Fact or Fiction?

Hold the phone! Someone at aldotcom's claiming President Trump's "peace president" boasts are tanking his poll numbers. Newsflash: recent polls show the Trump Train chugging along with strong support from his base and approval ratings that might even outshine Dubya and Obama at similar points in their presidencies. Talk about fake news, am I right?

Wes Allen's Residency Under Scrutiny?

Things are getting spicy in Alabama! Morgan County GOP chair Julie Clausen's questioning Secretary of State Wes Allen's Montgomery residency, citing some Pike County homestead and voting biz. She's hinting at fraud, but Allen's firing back, saying his rented apartment meets the state's requirements. All this amidst a funding challenge against Lt. Gov. hopeful John Wahl. Stay tuned... this could get messy.

Alabama House Republicans Back Ledbetter

The Alabama House Republican Caucus is throwing its weight behind Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter ahead of a potentially sticky ALGOP meeting. Seems some folks want to boot him from the ballot. Governor Ivey's even chimed in, praising Ledbetter's policies. She wants to protect him from a (highly unlikely) removal process. Looks like the political establishment is circling the wagons.

Noem Out at DHS? Trump Shakes Up Cabinet!

Big news! President Trump apparently gave DHS Secretary Kristi Noem the boot! Word on the street is it was over leadership failures, spending woes, and some infidelity allegations (yikes!). He reassigned her to some "Envoy" gig and nominated Senator Markwayne Mullin as her replacement. Cabinet shakeups are always fun, right?

Online Sales Tax Distribution Update

Sen. Greg Albritton's got a plan to update how online sales tax revenue is divvied up. His idea? Recalculate the distribution every five years using Census data to reflect population shifts. This is an attempt to address lawsuits from cities complaining of lost revenue, all while keeping the hefty $851 million in taxes flowing. Smart move? You decide!

War Powers Resolution Fails: Trump Gets Iran Blank Check

The U.S. House just shot down a War Powers Resolution that would've kept tabs on Trump's actions against Iran. Alabama Republicans voted "no," while Alabama Democrats voted "yes." Translation? President Trump essentially gets a green light to do what he wants in the Iranian theater. Get ready for anything.

Operation Epic Fury: Iran Strikes & Oil Prices Soar

Sources are saying that "Operation Epic Fury" led to strikes that leveled Iranian missiles, ships, and sites in Tehran. This caused evacuations and, potentially, a massive surge in oil prices. Trump's apparently unbothered by potential gas price hikes, and Governor-elect Tommy Tuberville wants to deport Sharia law practitioners (yikes!).

And that's your daily dose of political craziness, Chumblers!

UAB Joins National Push for Better Nutrition Training for Docs!

Big news, ChumCity peeps! UAB is stepping up its game, joining a nationwide initiative to give future doctors a real education in nutrition. That's right – we're talking about strengthening how medical students learn about food and how it affects our health!

A Major Commitment

UAB is one of 53 med schools committing to this important change. The announcement was made at a meeting in D.C., where bigwigs from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Education got together to talk about boosting nutrition knowledge in medical training.

40 Hours of Food Power!

The deal is this: UAB, along with the other schools, will provide at least 40 hours of nutrition education (or something just as good) for students starting in the fall of 2026. Finally, some serious food facts being taught!

Why This Matters

Federal officials say this is all about prepping doctors to tackle diet-related health problems, which are a HUGE part of chronic disease in the USA. Think heart disease, diabetes - the stuff good nutrition can really help prevent!

The Feds Are Invested

HHS is even putting its money where its mouth is, dedicating $5 million to help schools amp up their nutrition programs! They'll use the cash to develop courses, training, and research on evidence-based nutrition science.

It's About Time!

Medical leaders are cheering this move, recognizing that nutrition education has been seriously lacking for far too long. It's a win for future doctors, and a HUGE win for all of us!

A Wake-Up Call: Are You a Threat to Evil?

"My prayer is that when I die, all of Hell will rejoice that I am out of the fight." – C.S. Lewis

We're living in a messy world, no doubt about it. Suffering, lies, betrayal - it's the cost of entry into a world stained by sin. But we have a choice: do we roll over, or do we fight back?

The Silent Majority?

Too many American Christians are choosing the first option. They're standing by as toxic ideologies flood their communities. Transgenderism pushed on kids, LGBTQ+ agendas shoved down our throats - it all happens because Christians are told standing up is "unloving." They let the Word of God be twisted, weaponized to shame them into silence.

Time to Stand Tall

That's not the path God calls us to. The other path? Standing up. Saying NO to the darkness. Becoming a threat to those who want to kill and destroy. Making evil think twice.

Now, before anyone jumps down my throat: I'm not talking about violence. I'm talking about peace through strength. As Jordan Peterson says, you need to be capable of being dangerous. "If you’re not a formidable force, then there’s no morality in your self-control.”

How to Be a Righteous Threat

First, become that strong, dangerous man. Then, use your words like weapons. Expose the flimsy foundation of evil with truth. Think of folks like Charlie Kirk, a Christian warrior whose words were so powerful, evil had to silence him violently. (And yeah, Hell probably threw a party that day).

Fear No Name

Too many are scared of being called names: "transphobe," "homophobe," whatever. They're told the Bible says "love everyone." But love doesn't mean accepting sin and letting it spread. Love means protecting your family and community from evil. Loving your enemy means bringing them to the light, showing them how lost they are without Christ.

If the forces of darkness aren't throwing insults your way, I gotta wonder: are you really in the fight? If evil doesn't see you as a roadblock, they see you as complicit.

Show me who sees you as an enemy, and I'll show you who you really are.

Be a Force to Be Reckoned With

So, become a threat to evil. Make them think twice before stepping foot in your territory. And when they do, walk in victory, in the name of Christ.
