"Alabama's been a gold standard for fair elections, and we're just making that foundation even stronger," Ivey declared. "Folks can sleep soundly knowing there's no funny business when it comes to their vote in Alabama."

What's the Deal?

Every county in Alabama will now conduct a post-election audit after each general election. We're talking about auditing one countywide and one statewide race from a precinct in each county. These audits will kick off at least 31 days after the election (or once any challenges are done) and wrapped up within 30 days.

More Than Just This

Remember the Alabama Voter Confidence Act from 2021? That already authorized a limited audit after the 2022 election. Ivey's been on this!

The Lawmakers Weigh In

State Rep. Joe Lovvorn (R-Auburn), who sponsored the bill, emphasized that it's all about boosting Alabamians' confidence that every single vote is counted right. State Sen. Jay Hovey (R-Auburn) added that this bill keeps Alabama leading the way in secure and transparent elections.

Probate judges will be in charge of these audits, reporting back to the Alabama Secretary of State's Office. The results will be available for everyone to see online!
