AJ McCarron Throws His Hat in the Ring for Alabama Lt. Governor!

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron is officially making a play for the Lieutenant Governor's office in 2026! The announcement dropped Thursday morning with a campaign video showcasing a side of McCarron we haven't seen before – politics!

From Gridiron to Government

"Even as a kid, I loved football because there was something special about joining the fight, taking charge, and motivating others to win," McCarron says in the ad, crediting Coach Nick Saban with instilling leadership principles during his time at Alabama.

An Alabama Man Through and Through

McCarron's campaign is heavily emphasizing his deep Alabama roots and support for former President Donald Trump. He stresses his commitment to raising his family in the state with strong Christian values.

"My roots run deep in Alabama… Katherine and I are raising our boys here — instilling in them our deep Christian faith and teaching them the fundamental morals that make this state so special, but today, Alabama’s conservative and cultural values are under attack from every direction," McCarron states. He cites the influence of figures like Charlie Kirk in his decision to enter the political arena.

More Than Just a Football Star

The campaign highlights McCarron's continued involvement in the Alabama community. Besides his work as a college football analyst, he co-owns McCarron Real Estate with his wife, Katherine Webb McCarron. They live in Mobile with their three young sons.

The Competition

McCarron joins a race already featuring seasoned politicians: Secretary of State Wes Allen and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate. Both have already amassed significant campaign funds. Senator Tommy Tuberville is expected to be a frontrunner in the governor's race.

The Outsider Advantage

McCarron is positioning himself as a fresh alternative to "Montgomery insiders and career politicians." He hopes to mirror Trump's success as an outsider candidate and work with a potential Tuberville administration to advance a conservative agenda.

What Does the Lt. Governor Do, Anyway?

The Lieutenant Governor presides over the Alabama Senate, influences committee assignments, and is first in line to succeed the Governor.

McCarron's Motivation

Ultimately, McCarron views his candidacy as a way to give back to the state he loves. "Alabama is my home — it’s made me who I am, and I feel led from above to give back to the state that has given me so much."

Shutdown Shenanigans: Healthcare Hype or Honest Truth?

So, Doug Jones, the ex-Senator from Alabama, and some other Democrats are pushing the line that this whole government shutdown is about protecting your healthcare. Right?

The Plot Thickens...

But hold up! Why are other Democrats spilling the beans and telling a different story? Something smells fishy in the swamp!

Stalemate Situation

Bottom line: This shutdown's gonna drag on until those Democrats blink and see things our way. Buckle up, folks!
