Hoss Mack Throws His Weight Behind Chris Elliott!

Baldwin County's Senate District 32 race just got a whole lot more interesting! Former Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack is officially backing State Sen. Chris Elliott (R‑Josephine) for re-election. It's a big deal as the May 19 primary heats up!

Mack's Strong Endorsement

Sheriff Hoss Mack isn’t holding back! In a new video, he urged voters to send Elliott back to Montgomery. "We sent Chris to the Capitol with a mission to stand tall for Baldwin County," Mack declared.

"Delivered Every Time!"

Mack emphasized Elliott’s success in securing funding and representing Baldwin County's needs. "He’s delivered every time by bringing home the funding to keep our roads, schools, and communities moving forward," Mack explained. He also highlighted Elliott's conservative stance, saying, "Chris is a true conservative who’s tough as nails because he knows you can’t change Montgomery with please and thank you.”

A "Real MAGA Warrior"

Mack wrapped up his endorsement with a bang, calling Elliott a "real MAGA warrior for Baldwin County." Remember that when you head to the polls!

The Stakes Are High

Elliott, who was first elected in 2018, is facing a challenge from Mike Vandenheuvel in the Republican primary. District 32 includes Fairhope, Daphne, Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and more. The winner will go on to the general election in November.

Hoosiers Lock Down Coaching King Cignetti!

Indiana Hoosiers fans, rejoice! Head coach Curt Cignetti, fresh off leading the team to its FIRST EVER national title in a dominating performance, is sticking around! The former Nick Saban protege has inked a contract extension that will keep him in Bloomington through 2033.

Cignetti's Massive Payday

And how much will it cost to keep this coaching mastermind? According to reports, Cignetti's new deal will average a whopping $13.2 million per year! That puts him in elite company, alongside the likes of Georgia's Kirby Smart and LSU's Lane Kiffin as the only coaches with deals exceeding $13 million annually.

Hoosiers Show Their Commitment

While Cignetti's previous contract was already set to bump him up to nearly $12 million, a "Good Faith Market Review clause" was triggered by that epic CFP semifinal run, allowing for a total renegotiation.

The fact that Indiana, traditionally an also-ran, stepped up to pay Cignetti like one of the elite coaches in the nation speaks volumes. It's clear the Hoosiers are serious about contending, and they've secured the leader to make it happen! Look out, college football! Indiana is here to STAY.

Dawg Days and Driving Drama... Again?

Yep, you read that right. Two more Georgia Bulldogs football players have been snagged by Athens-Clarke County police for driving-related offenses. It's becoming a frustratingly familiar headline, isn't it?

The Offenses

Linebackers Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbon are both facing misdemeanor reckless driving charges. Reports indicate Cole, a player tipped to be a defensive linchpin this year, is charged with reckless driving and speeding. Ikinnagbon’s rap sheet includes reckless driving, following too closely, and speeding. Ouch.

Team Statement

A Georgia team spokesperson offered the standard line: "We are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time.”

A Pattern of Problems

Since January 2023, over 20 individuals connected to the program have been arrested for driving-related incidents. Twenty! At what point do we stop calling it a coincidence?

Kirby's Take

Head Coach Kirby Smart has previously stated these incidents are handled individually. However, the million-dollar question remains: How does this keep happening? We're all scratching our heads, Dawg Nation.

Tuberville Drops By: A Shot in the Arm for Alabama House GOP After Tumultuous Week

Things got a little wild in the Alabama House Republican Caucus last week, what with a juicy leak and a leadership shakeup. So, Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter brought in the big guns: Senator Tommy Tuberville! The goal? To remind everyone which way the political compass is pointing.

Coach's Pep Talk

"Appreciate my good friend, Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter, inviting me," Tuberville posted, emphasizing Alabama's status as the "most conservative" legislature, according to CPAC.

Ledbetter's Take

Ledbetter explained that the visit was all about giving caucus members some quality time with the man who's likely to deliver the 2027 State of the State address. Think of it as a sneak peek at the future governor's agenda.

From Pool House to Powerhouse

The Speaker reminisced about how he and Tuberville first connected seven years ago, even offering the then-candidate his pool house. A friendship was born, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Leak Fallout

Tuberville's visit came on the heels of a leaked recording that stirred up controversy. The clip, taken from a longer caucus meeting, was seen by some as an attempt to paint Ledbetter in a bad light. The issue centered on whether then-Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen could run for Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party while holding his leadership post.

New Leadership

Stadthagen stepped down, and State Rep. Paul Lee is the new Majority Leader.

Tuberville's Message: "Get Ready!"

So, what did Tuberville tell the House lawmakers? According to Ledbetter, the message was simple: "Get ready!" He’s aiming to grow Alabama's economy and bring jobs. This means special sessions and tackling tough issues.

Back on Track

Ledbetter believes Tuberville's visit was just what the doctor ordered after a chaotic week. A reminder to focus on the work ahead, both as they wrap up the current term and prepare for the next under a new administration. "Working together... who knows that better than him?" Ledbetter concluded.

Young Gun Takes the Crown!

Lake Martin: A Fisherman's Paradise

While Lake Martin might not boast the behemoth bass of some other lakes, it's overflowing with fish, leaving anglers with sore thumbs and smiles galore! Pro angler Justin Hamner raved about the lake's family-friendly appeal, perfect for teaching the next generation of fishing fanatics.

More Than Just Bass: Community Love

BASS CEO Chase Anderson emphasized that the Elite Series stop at Lake Martin was about more than just catching fish. He highlighted the incredible support from the local community and the lake's unique challenges for anglers. According to Explore Lake Martin Tourism President/CEO Sandra Fuller, BASS chose Lake Martin not for the size of the bass but for the community's support.

Investing in Lake Martin's Future

Alabama is putting its money where its mouth is, with Commissioner Chris Blankenship announcing major investments in the lake's facilities, including new cottages at Wind Creek State Park and improved boat ramps.

Alabama Senate Race: Moore's Ascent?

The Alabama Senate race just took a dramatic turn! What initially seemed like a wide-open contest is now tilting heavily in favor of Congressman Barry Moore, thanks to a major endorsement.

Trump's Golden Touch

President Trump's backing of Moore, coupled with the expected support from the influential "Club for Growth," makes the Wiregrass Congressman the frontrunner for the open Senate seat. Remember, Moore was an early supporter of Trump, even speaking alongside him back in 2015 when Trump was still considered a long shot.

A Conservative Successor?

Moore aims to fill the seat once held by Jeff Sessions, a renowned conservative stalwart. With a strong conservative voting record in the House, Moore seems poised to continue that legacy.

Hometown Connection

Here's a fun fact: both Moore and current Senator Katie Britt hail from Enterprise, Alabama! If Moore wins, it'll be the first time both Alabama senators share the same hometown. Though he'd be the junior senator, Moore is 15 years Britt's senior.

Moore's Political Journey

From the Alabama House to the U.S. Congress, Moore has consistently presented a right-wing voting record. In 2020, he secured an upset victory, portraying himself as an "aw-shucks" conservative compared to his opponent.

The Club for Growth Factor

The "Club for Growth," a powerful organization fueled by wealthy donors, has become a significant force in Republican politics. They prioritize fiscal restraint and back candidates with proven conservative credentials.

A Trump-Club Coalition

Though once at odds with Trump, the Club for Growth seems to have aligned with him. This powerful alliance could prove unbeatable in the Alabama Republican Primary.

Prediction: Moore Wins?

With the combined backing of Trump and the Club for Growth, it's looking increasingly likely that Barry Moore will be Alabama's next junior U.S. Senator.
