Miss New York Crowned Miss America 2026!

The Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando was buzzing Sunday night as Abbie Stockard, Miss America 2025 (hailing from Alabama!), passed the torch...err, crown, to Miss New York, Cassie Donegan!

Stockard's reign as Miss America 2025 officially concluded as she bestowed the title, crown, and responsibilities upon her successor. Cue the confetti!

Earlier in the evening, the competition narrowed to 11 semifinalists, showcasing their talents and poise in fitness, talent, evening gown, and interview segments.

Those representing their states included: Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, New York, Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, and Illinois. Talk about a star-studded lineup!

Talent Took Center Stage!

The talent portion was particularly dazzling, featuring:

• Miss Georgia, Audrey Kittila, wowed with a violin medley.
• Miss Tennessee, Zoe Scheiderich, gracefully performed ballet.
• Miss Maryland, Maria Derisavi, delivered a powerful spoken word piece, “HER Story”.
• Miss Florida, Paris Richardson, energized the crowd with an acrobatic/jazz dance.
• Miss Alabama, Emma Terry, showcased her ballet skills en pointe.
• Miss Illinois, Nitsaniyah Fitch, captivated with a soulful ballad.

Donegan, along with Miss Arkansas Kennedy Holland, and Miss Utah Jordyn Bristol snagged preliminary talent awards earlier in the week.

Accolades All Around!

Miss Alabama, Emma Terry, not only impressed with her talent, but also secured two service awards! She was recognized as a regional leader and received a Quality of Life Award. Way to go, Emma!

The evening also honored 15 former Miss America winners with a walk across the stage, including Alabama's own Heather Whitestone, Miss America 1995, the first and only deaf Miss America!

It was announced that the Miss America organization awards a whopping $35 million in scholarships annually across the nation. In a heartwarming surprise, each contestant who didn't make the top 11 received a $3,000 scholarship. Now that's something to celebrate!

Tragedy Strikes Auburn's Kiesel Park

A somber cloud hangs over Auburn as the community mourns the loss of Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, 59. The recently-retired Auburn University veterinary professor was found dead in Kiesel Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Incident

Dr. Schnuelle was reportedly walking her dog when the tragic event occurred. A passerby discovered her body and alerted authorities. A search was quickly launched for Dr. Schnuelle's red Ford F-150, which was later located off Wire Road, a few miles from the park. Auburn Police have taken a person of interest into custody.

Kiesel Park Closed, Investigation Underway

Kiesel Park, a popular spot for walkers, joggers, and dog lovers, is now a crime scene and remains closed to the public. Police have stated that Dr. Schnuelle's injuries suggest an assault, and the case is being investigated as a homicide. An autopsy will be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery. The Auburn PD promises updates and a news conference.

A Beloved Figure in the Community

Dr. Schnuelle was a professor of Large Animal Medicine and Food Animals at Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine before her recent retirement. Her dog was found unharmed on Sunday. Arnold ended the night with 24 completions on 28 attempts for over 250 yards and three touchdowns – with ZERO interceptions! Cam Coleman hauled in seven catches for 77 yards, and Singleton snagged four for 64 yards and two scores.

Defensive Domination

The Auburn defense was ferocious! Xavier Atkins and Keyron Crawford each recorded two sacks as Auburn held Ball State to a single field goal.
