Big News! Auditor Sorrell and Wife Welcome Baby Boy!

The ChumCity family is sending huge congratulations to State Auditor Andrew Sorrell and his wife, Hannah! They've welcomed a bouncing baby boy into their lives!

A Bundle of Joy!

Little Justus arrived on Friday at 1:40 p.m., clocking in at a healthy eight pounds, four ounces and stretching out to a full 21 inches. What a cutie!

A Growing Family

Justus joins big sisters Liberty (3) and Glory (2) in the Sorrell household. After the heartbreaking loss of an unborn child last year, the family is overjoyed with Justus's safe arrival at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, Alabama.

The Meaning Behind the Name

While Justus won't be a "Junior," his name holds special significance. His dad is Justin Andrew Sorrell (Justin being the English version of Justinus, which stems from Justus). Justus, a Latin name, means "just" or "upright," reflecting qualities of righteousness and integrity. It's a rare name these days, but with deep historical roots.

A Name with History

Historically, Justus of Canterbury was the fourth Archbishop of Canterbury, who lived way back in the 7th century.

All-American Family!

With names like Liberty, Glory, and now Justus, this family is practically a walking, talking celebration of American values!

Young Republicans in the Making

The Sorrell children are already known faces in Alabama's Republican circles, often accompanying their parents to GOP and state government events.

A Public Servant

Andrew Sorrell, elected State Auditor in 2022, previously served in the Alabama House. He's a dedicated public servant! And while he won't be running for re-election as Auditor, he's set his sights on the Secretary of State race.

Charlie Kirk: Martyr or Just Another Politician?

The reaction to Charlie Kirk's assassination has been deeply troubling, revealing a disturbing crack in our collective moral compass. But where is this disconnect coming from?

The Right's Reaction: Faith-Based or Just Politics?

Some on the right are trying to downplay Kirk's martyrdom, claiming he was "just" a politician. This misses the point entirely. Kirk’s political views stemmed directly from his Christian faith. His words resonated because they were rooted in biblical truth, not just political strategy. He wasn't afraid to stand up for the Gospel, even when it was unpopular. That's why he was targeted. This wasn't about tax policy; it was about spiritual warfare.

The Left's Celebration: Critical Theory's Dark Side

Then we have the horrifying celebration from the far left. How can anyone defend murder? The answer, sadly, is critical theory. This dangerous ideology teaches that there are no moral absolutes, only power dynamics and identity politics. In this twisted worldview, the "oppressed" can do no wrong against the "oppressor." Therefore, anything, even murder, is justifiable and even worthy of celebration. This is the same fuel igniting college campuses and justifying the actions of Hamas.

The Lukewarm Middle: Choosing Comfort Over Truth

Equally disturbing is the lukewarm response from many who claim to be Christian. Rejecting believers who engage in politics or pastors who prioritize comfort over truth is a dangerous path. Jesus himself warned against such tepidity.

Kirk's Mission: Disrupting the Indoctrination Machine

Charlie Kirk bravely ventured into the heart of the beast on college campuses, challenging the secular indoctrination and identity politics that are poisoning minds. The glee of professors and educators celebrating his death should be a wake-up call.

A Call to Action: Choose Truth Over Comfort

Rejecting hate means loving others enough to tell them the truth, even when it's uncomfortable. Christians are called to provide answers from the ultimate source of truth in every sphere of life. That's exactly what Charlie Kirk was murdered for doing.

Trucking Industry Gears Up for 2026 Elections!

Alabama's trucking bigwigs are putting their weight behind some familiar faces! TRUK PAC, the political arm of the Alabama Trucking Association, just dropped its endorsements for the 2026 election cycle.

Who's Got the Trucking Industry's Back?

Here's the lineup of candidates getting the thumbs-up:

  • Tommy Tuberville – U.S. Senator
  • Jay Mitchell – Governor
  • Caroleene Dobson – Attorney General

According to TRUK PAC Chairman Greg Brown, these folks get the importance of a strong transportation network, smart financial moves, and fair rules. This is key for keeping Alabama's economy and small businesses trucking along!

Trucking: More Than Just Big Rigs!

Did you know the trucking industry is a HUGE deal in Alabama? We're talking about 133,650 jobs, roughly one in every 13 in the state! Plus, those trucks are hauling 81.7% of ALL the essential stuff – food, medicine, building supplies – even to the most far-flung corners of the state.

Moore Seeks Relief for GM Victims

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is throwing a lifeline to families impacted by General Motors' vehicle defects! He's introduced the Auto Bailout Accident Victims Recovery Act, hoping to bring much-needed justice to those who've suffered. Moore, who's also eyeing a U.S. Senate run in 2026, is determined to right a wrong.

Waiving the Deadline

The Act aims to waive the statute of limitations for cases against the government related to the General Motors bailout, specifically those filed on or before July 9, 2015.

Justice Delayed, Justice Denied?

"For years," Moore stated, "families who lost loved ones or suffered serious injuries because of GM’s defects have been denied justice, not because of their own actions, but because Washington chose to shield corporations instead of victims." Ouch!

Background on the Bailout

Remember the 2014 recall of over 5.8 million General Motors vehicles with manufacturing defects that led to injuries and deaths? A court ruling decided that the 2009 auto bailout shielded GM from liability for accidents before the bailout.

A Chance for Compensation

Moore believes the Auto Bailout Accident Victims Recovery Act provides these families with the opportunity to have their voices heard and finally receive the compensation they deserve.

Bipartisan Support

U.S. Rep. Troy Carter (R-La.) also backs the legislation, calling it a correction to a "longstanding injustice inflicted upon hundreds of accident victims across the nation during the 2009 Auto Bailout." Carter adds, "I’m proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation which is a vital step to restore faith in our system."

Palmer Sets the Record Straight on "One, Big, Beautiful Bill"

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer is on a mission to debunk the myths surrounding the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" passed earlier this year. Forget the spin, folks – he's here to tell you what's really in it!

Busting the "Billionaire Tax Cut" Myth

Speaking on WVNN's "The Yaffee Program," Palmer (R-Hoover) called out the Democrats for what he sees as misrepresenting the legislation. He said there's a common "Democrat saying" that it's all about "tax cuts for big business and billionaires," but Palmer insists that's far from the truth.

Who REALLY Benefits?

According to Palmer, the bill extends $4.5 trillion in Trump-era tax cuts, scraps income tax on things like tips and overtime, and gives additional breaks to seniors and small businesses. He emphasized that the vast majority of the tax cuts will benefit folks earning less than $100,000 a year, especially couples with kids thanks to an increased child tax credit.

Big Win for Alabama Farmers?

Palmer specifically highlighted the benefits Alabama farmers will see, including a chunk of a $50 billion allocation for rural healthcare transformation.

Rural Healthcare Boost Coming

"This $50 billion...for rural health care transformation is historic, and it’s a huge opportunity for Alabama," Palmer explained, adding that his work in the House helped secure this provision. Starting January 1, Alabama gets $100 million a year for five years specifically for rural healthcare. Palmer, who hails from Hackleburg, Alabama, says he understands the importance of this funding firsthand.

A Brighter Future for Farmers?

Palmer believes the bill does "a tremendous amount of good for the farmers" and that people will see the benefits when they file their taxes next year.

Meet Eliza Maxwell: Revolutionizing Home Healthcare

Eliza Maxwell isn't just a nurse; she's a visionary who's transforming how families experience healthcare. As the founder of homeRN, she's bringing expert medical care directly into the comfort of people's homes, ensuring everyone feels supported and understood.

From Birmingham to Beyond

Eliza's journey started at St. Vincent's Birmingham and led her to identify a critical gap: patients often needed more coordinated care than they received after leaving the hospital. In 2020, seeing a friend's father struggle with fragmented services sparked a mission. "Families needed more than fragmented support–they needed a single point of leadership," she realized.

The Birth of homeRN

That moment gave birth to homeRN, a service dedicated to bringing top-notch nursing and caregiving into homes. From its Birmingham roots, homeRN has exploded, now boasting franchise locations throughout the Southeast. For Eliza, the proudest achievement is recognizing a need and fearlessly tackling it. It's not just about building a business, but empowering other nurses to bring this model to their communities.

Inspired by Women

Eliza finds inspiration in women who juggle careers and families with grace. She also draws strength from her daughters, Beatty and Frances. "Seeing other women lead, nurture, and thrive inspires me to keep going," she shares.

A Purpose-Driven Mission

For Eliza, nursing is about more than medicine; it's about people. Her purpose comes from knowing that she's easing families' burdens during vulnerable times. Building homeRN in Alabama, creating jobs, and expanding access to compassionate care fills her with pride.

A True Woman of Impact

Eliza Maxwell's story proves that leadership requires both innovation and heart. Her colleagues see her as resourceful and committed. She's a humble leader, always ready to listen and put families first. Eliza and her team at homeRN are making a real difference, one family at a time, reshaping the future of home healthcare across the Southeast.

Huntsville Ditches AI Garbage Trucks

Trump Pledges National Guard to Memphis

President Trump is sending the National Guard to Memphis! He cited a 15% crime reduction thanks to FBI efforts. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is "grateful" for the support. Troops are expected to arrive soon.

Ivey Says No National Guard for Alabama (Yet)

Following Trump's Memphis plan, Gov. Kay Ivey says don't expect National Guard troops patrolling Alabama cities like Birmingham anytime soon.

U of A Prof Deletes Kirk Tweets

A University of Alabama journalism professor is under fire! He suggested Charlie Kirk's assassination involved right-on-right violence, then scrambled to delete his social media posts. Meanwhile, a disturbing banner appeared on the Cullman bridge near a Kirk tribute.

Britt Demands Firings for Kirk Celebration

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is calling for consequences! She insists that anyone celebrating Charlie Kirk's assassination needs to be fired. Companies have taken action, not for differing opinions, but for celebrating murder.

Media Lies About Kirk's Murder

While the media and the Democrats lie about the murder of Charlie Kirk, the motives of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Kirk’s assassination motives are confounding “experts,” with reporting indicating, “experts on extremism are similarly baffled by the possible motivations;” even though it is obvious to everyone following the story with a brain that Robinson killed Kirk over his belief that Kirk was a fascist and opposed transgender ideology, while Robinson had a become become left-wing crank in a relationship with a man who wanted to be a woman.

Tide Turning? Bama Rebounds Heading into Bye Week

After that rough season opener against Florida State, the Alabama Crimson Tide has bounced back big time with two straight Ws. They're heading into their bye week at 2-1, with a massive showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs looming large in Athens.

Defense Tightens Up, Simpson Shines

While the defense has definitely looked sharper (even against slightly less intimidating opponents), the real story is the progress of starting quarterback Ty Simpson. After a shaky start in Tallahassee, Simpson has made leaps and bounds in recent weeks and has yet to turn the ball over.

Faith & Football: Simpson's Source of Strength

Following Alabama's dominant 38-14 victory over Wisconsin, Simpson was quick to credit his faith as the foundation of his confidence. "I get my confidence from the Lord," Simpson explained. "I pray before every game, I pray every morning before I go in the building. One for giving me this opportunity to play for the University of Alabama, but also to give me the wisdom and strength and make sure that I do everything the way He wants me to do it."

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Simpson also emphasized the importance of his teammates. "Also, I get my confidence from my teammates. We have a really, really good football team. The defense is really playing well and the offense is really clicking on a bunch of different notes," he said. Looking ahead to the Georgia game, he added, "I think nothing really changes. We just gotta go understand hey, it's on the road and we just gotta do what we do and understand and be professional about it."

Stats Don't Lie

The on-field results speak volumes. Over the last two games, Simpson has connected on 41 of 46 passes for a whopping 608 yards and seven touchdowns, maintaining a spotless interception record for the season. If Simpson can continue to blend prayer, preparation, and performance, Alabama is poised to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Alabama Lawmakers Unite for Civility After Tragedy

Following the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk during a campus speaking event in Utah last week, two young Alabama legislators have crossed the aisle to advocate for civility amidst the turmoil.

State Rep. James Lomax (R) and State Rep. Jeremy Gray (D) released a joint statement Monday, urging a renewed commitment to respectful disagreement.

Bridging the Divide

"As one of Alabama’s younger legislators, I believe our duty is not to add fuel to the fire, but to bring light through the smoke," stated Gray. "It’s time to cool the air. Disagreement doesn’t make us enemies; it makes us neighbors with different views."

Strength in Civility

Lomax echoed this sentiment: "Civility is not weakness; it is strength. It’s the muscle that keeps our democracy standing tall. I believe we can stand tall—together.” He emphasized the importance of respect and restraint in the face of heated rhetoric.

Remembering Charlie Kirk

Kirk, a prominent figure in American discourse, was tragically murdered at age 31. He founded Turning Point USA, a youth movement challenging liberal views on college campuses. He was known for his unwavering pro-America stance, commitment to the Constitution, and advocacy for free speech.

Rejecting Violence and Echo Chambers

Lomax stressed that Kirk was killed for his beliefs: "Political disagreement should never be settled with violence or in online echo chambers, but by people at the ballot box. Social media is not real life."

A Call for Reflection

"We don’t have to abandon our principles to elevate our tone," Lomax added. "Even small acts of respect can point us to a brighter tomorrow.” Both lawmakers called on other leaders to reflect on how they can contribute to a more civil and constructive dialogue.
