Bama's on a Roll!

The Alabama Crimson Tide is straight-up crushing it! They just snagged their fourth straight victory against a ranked team, becoming the FIRST EVER in SEC history to pull off that wild feat.

DeBoer's Building a Beast

Remember all the early-season chatter after that Florida State loss? Well, Kalen DeBoer has clearly worked some magic. This team is starting to look dangerous, reaching its potential. But get this: Coach DeBoer says they're still not at their peak!

Hungry for More

Ahead of their upcoming road game against South Carolina, DeBoer dropped this gem in his weekly press conference: "The world hasn’t seen Bama’s best yet." Can you feel the intensity?!

Facing the Gamecocks

DeBoer warns his squad to be ready for a hostile environment in South Carolina. It's all about preparation, focus, and bringing that A-game. They need to be clicking on all cylinders to take down LaNorris Sellers and his Gamecocks.

On the Rise

It's another huge test for Alabama, but they’re consistently improving each week. They're locked in on that ultimate goal: becoming the best version of themselves. Will we see Bama unleash their full power this week? We're ready to find out!

Tide's Ranked Rampage vs. Road Trip Woes

Kalen DeBoer's Crimson Tide know how to bring the heat against top-tier teams. Victories over Georgia (twice!), LSU, Missouri, and Vanderbilt prove it. DeBoer’s built a career on slaying ranked foes, boasting a stellar 19-3 record against them across his coaching stops. At Alabama, that trend's continued with a recent, impressive streak against ranked teams.

The Complacency Conundrum

The challenge? Getting the Tide fired up for opponents they should dominate, especially away from home. Remember those head-scratching losses against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma last year? Or that bowl game against Michigan? For whatever reason, DeBoer hasn't yet fully eradicated that lurking complacency – a trait Saban mastered.

Deja Vu at Florida State?

Now, Alabama heads to South Carolina, where a desperate Gamecocks squad awaits, hungry for a season-defining upset. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers is a serious threat, and the atmosphere will be electric.

A Defining Road Test

This game will reveal the true character of this Alabama team. Have they learned from past stumbles, or will complacency creep back in? If this Tide team is a true championship contender, they'll handle business. Regardless, we'll learn a lot about this team's mentality and the coaching staff's ability to keep them sharp.

House District 38 Race Heads to Runoff!

East Alabama's House District 38 is gearing up for another round of voting! No candidate managed to snag over 50% in Tuesday's GOP primary, meaning we're headed for a runoff election next month.

The Numbers

Kristin Nelson led the pack with 46.8% (1,226 votes), followed by Garrett Dixon at 33.38% (847 votes). Micah Messer landed at 20% (526 votes) and is out of the running.

Mark Your Calendars: November 18th

The Republican primary runoff is locked in for Tuesday, November 18th. This election will essentially decide who represents Chambers and Lee Counties in the State House, following Debbie Wood's resignation.

Candidates Speak Out

Nelson expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the need for a representative who will protect conservative values. Dixon, a farmer and small-business owner, thanked voters and pledged to focus on making Alabama safe and affordable for families.

What's Next?

The Alabama Republican Party congratulated all three candidates on a spirited campaign and highlighted the engagement of voters in East Alabama. Get ready, folks, because the race to represent House District 38 is far from over!

Montgomery Backs Jackson Hospital with Revised Plan!

Montgomery City Council just gave Jackson Hospital a big thumbs up, approving a resolution that could unlock up to $15 million in city funds! But there's a catch – it's a team effort!

What's the Deal?

This isn't just Montgomery going it alone. The cash injection depends on Montgomery County, Alabama, and other governmental bodies stepping up to the plate with their fair share. It's all about a regional solution, folks!

Bye-Bye Old Plan

Remember that whole 60-40 city-county split? Gone! Mayor Reed wasn't feeling it, and now any city funds are tied to this multi-party agreement. City officials say this ensures Montgomery taxpayers aren't carrying the whole load.

Jackson's Journey

Jackson Hospital, a vital nonprofit with 344 beds, filed for Chapter 11 back in February. A bankruptcy judge recently approved funds to keep the hospital running through the holidays, but long-term survival needs serious support.

The Big Picture

We're talking about a potential $50 million local-state package, with Montgomery ponying up $15 million, the county $10 million, and the state potentially covering $25 million. However, those county and state commitments are still being worked out.

Why This Matters

Jackson Hospital needs some serious financial love to stay afloat. We're talking $50 million in the short term, with lenders hinting that $100 million in government backing could be the key to unlocking even more financial support. Stay tuned, ChumCity, this story is far from over!

Alabama's Wild Week: What's Buzzing in the ChumCity?

  1. Landscaper Lawsuit Fizzles? Remember that Auburn landscaper who got canned after a "one fascist down" post about Charlie Kirk? Well, he's suing, claiming free speech violation. But legal experts are saying his case? Not looking so hot.

  2. Library Book Battle! A heated debate raged at the Alabama Public Library Service hearing. The topic? Transgender books in the kids' section. Sides clashed, with some arguing for protection, others crying political motives. Guess what? The public overwhelmingly wants these books GONE from the kids' section.

  3. Trump-Putin Meeting Postponed! Forget about a peace pow-wow between Trump and Putin, for now. Seems like there's no point when Russia's still aggressively attacking Ukraine.

  4. Fairhope Flasher Flap! A "No Kings" protester rocking a penis costume got cuffed in Fairhope, and the story's gone national! City Council President Jack Burrell backs the cops, saying the protester resisted arrest and the outfit was, uh, inappropriate.

  5. Commissioner Cuffed (Briefly)! Tuscaloosa County Commissioner Reginald Murray found himself in handcuffs after a scuffle trying to get into a school event. Even name-dropping the police chief didn't help! He wasn't arrested, but still…awkward.

  6. AG Marshall Sounds the Alarm! Attorney General Steve Marshall is NOT happy about the bond release of a suspect in a Montgomery mass shooting. He wants Aniah's Law beefed up to prevent future slip-ups.

  7. Walmart's Visa Vacation! Walmart's hitting pause on its H-1B visa program, officially citing economic blah-blah and a focus on hiring Americans. But the real reason? Trump's $100,000 fee on these workers. Ouch! That's gonna sting thousands of foreign techies.

More Land to Love: Talladega National Forest Set to Grow!

Get ready, Alabama nature lovers! Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has championed legislation to pump up the size of the Talladega National Forest, and it just got the thumbs-up from the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.

A Big Boost for the Great Outdoors

This expansion proposal, nestled within a larger U.S. Forest Service lands package, means approximately 50,000 more acres across three East Alabama counties could be added to the forest's proclamation boundary. Tuberville introduced this bill earlier in the year, and it's now one step closer to reality!

Good for Alabamians, Good for Alabama

"As Alabama grows, our citizens deserve easy access to stellar hiking and outdoor spaces that promote health," said Tuberville. He added that he's thrilled to lead the charge on legislation that'll boost tourism and keep conservation top-of-mind for everyone in the state.

What's the Deal?

The legislation allows the U.S. Forest Service to purchase land from willing sellers. This move is expected to support local economies and safeguard Alabama's natural treasures. Even better? It'll help enhance the Pinhoti Trail System, one of Alabama's most awesome long-distance hiking trails.

History & the Pinhoti

Talladega National Forest, established way back in 1936, is split into the Oakmulgee and Talladega divisions. The Talladega Division rocks a cool 400,000 acres. This expansion also means a safer and better maintained Pinhoti Trail. The current trail has some road walks, and this expansion will allow for connecting and extending the trail off-road.

Onward and Upward

Senator Tuberville is super passionate about this project and has been working hard to see it through. Big win for Alabama!

SEC Ref Gets the Boot!

Whoa! Talk about a penalty! Veteran SEC official Ken Williamson has been permanently benched from reffing conference games, according to Yellowhammer News!

What Happened?

Apparently, the SEC did a deep dive into eleven complaints about Williamson and his crew during the Auburn-Georgia game earlier this month. Get this: conference officials validated NINE of those complaints! Yikes!

Auburn vs. Georgia: A Game to Remember (or Forget?)

The Auburn-Georgia game was definitely a nail-biter, featuring some HIGHLY debated penalty calls. Remember that late-second-quarter goal-line review that had everyone scratching their heads? And what about that sideline timeout kerfuffle with Georgia coach Kirby Smart? Intense!

The Fallout

Williamson, a long-time ref with major postseason experience, was the head honcho of the officiating crew that game. Earlier this season, after the Oklahoma-Auburn game, the SEC acknowledged officials missed a sneaky substitution play. While Williamson's crew wasn't involved in that game, it definitely put a spotlight on officiating as a whole. The SEC keeps a close eye on its refs, grading them weekly and annually. But usually, they keep personnel decisions hush-hush. Georgia won 20-10.
