Gudger, a champion for small-town Alabama through his "rural roadmap," expects the session to build on existing themes. He recently shared his priorities on "Rightside Radio," hinting at upcoming debates on crucial issues.

"We're looking at education bills for sure," Gudger stated, highlighting the need for workforce development initiatives and funding for career tech programs in K-12 schools. He also emphasized the importance of addressing rural healthcare challenges and creating a more competitive tax code to ease the burden on hardworking Alabamians.

AHSAA Controversy: A Major Point of Discussion

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is also expected to be a key talking point. Remember that uproar earlier this year? The AHSAA's attempt to enforce a one-year sit-out rule for student-athletes transferring schools using new school choice funds ruffled some feathers.

Governor Ivey and House Speaker Ledbetter have even taken legal action, and a judge has temporarily blocked the rule. "The Alabama State Athletic Association’s issue" will be dealt with head-on, according to Gudger.

Looks like Tuskegee University is feeling good! After filing a federal lawsuit earlier this week, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has agreed to take another look at the procedures for the university's upcoming accreditation appeal hearing.
