Trump Talks Saban's Potential Role in College Sports

Pat McAfee, the man behind one of sports media's hottest daily shows, had a truly epic guest this week: none other than former President Donald J. Trump!

The President on Coach Saban

Trump appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and the conversation swung to Nick Saban, the legendary Alabama Crimson Tide coach. Since retiring, Saban's been vocal about steering college football in a better direction.

Trump's Take

Trump, who got to know Saban when the coach brought his championship-winning team to the White House, thinks Saban could be a game-changer. He believes Saban is "fantastic" and has the know-how to fix what's ailing college sports. Trump lamented the termination of "lesser sports", stressing the need for intervention.

A Potential Solution?

Trump emphasized Saban’s expertise, suggesting that "they ought to let Nick Saban take a good, strong look at it." He added that he would personally listen to Saban’s insights.

A Blast From the Past

Interestingly, there was talk of Saban leading a college sports commission via an Executive Order, alongside Cody Campbell. But that didn't materialize.

Will Saban Get Involved?

Even though Saban seemed to have dismissed the need for such a commission, influential figures in the U.S. government are still hoping to bring him into the fold. Will anything come of it? Only time will tell!
