Highlands Church Unleashes Army of Volunteers for Serve Day!

Church of the Highlands rocked communities across Alabama, Georgia, and beyond this past Saturday! Get this: over 19,000 volunteers hit the streets for their annual Serve Day, tackling practical needs left and right.

What is Serve Day?

Think of it as a massive love bomb! Volunteers from all 26 Highlands campuses rolled up their sleeves for home repairs, meal deliveries, hospital visits, school cleanups, and a whole lot more. They're all about meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

Partnering for Good

And the good vibes didn't stop there! They teamed up with Convoy of Hope, a faith-based humanitarian powerhouse, to distribute groceries and essentials in areas that need it most.

"We love our communities, and it’s an honor to show up, serve people, and let them know they’re not alone," exclaimed Mark Pettus, lead pastor at Highlands. "Highlands exists to make a difference in the world around us, and Serve Day is one way we get to do that together."

Tech for Good: The Serve Day App

Highlands even developed their own Serve Day app to coordinate all the action – and they offer it free to other churches! This year, it helped wrangle over 90,000 volunteer hours!

Massive Impact!

This year's Serve Day went BIG with Convoy of Hope, delivering a whopping 500,000 pounds of food and supplies to folks facing food insecurity, financial struggles, and tough times.

Local Love, Global Impact

With over 1,040 locally-led projects, they cared for elderly neighbors, renovated homes for foster families, and supported veterans, widows, and those facing medical or financial hurdles. They showed love to schools, food banks, shelters, and women’s resource centers too!

By the Numbers: Serve Day Wins!

The results? A staggering 36,039 meals served, 143,101 people reached, and over $2.4 million in economic impact across local communities! Talk about making a difference!

This second team, AL-TF2, has a history of helping out! They were previously activated for recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. This deployment to Texas is expected to last up to two weeks.
