Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth just snagged a seasoned pro! William Newman, a policy whiz and governmental affairs guru, is joining the team as deputy chief of staff. The announcement came Tuesday, just as lawmakers were heading back to Montgomery for the 2026 legislative session. "William Newman brings the experience and know-how we need to serve Alabama right," Ainsworth declared. "Plus, he's got the drive and fresh thinking to help us hit our goals this year!" Before landing in Ainsworth's office, Newman spent five years at the Business Council of Alabama, directing their governmental affairs and policy initiatives. He's been working closely with the Alabama Legislature, helping pass pro-business legislation. Translation? He's got connections and knows how things work under the dome. "Lt. Gov. Ainsworth gets things done," Newman said. "I'm excited to help him keep that reputation alive!" He's particularly pumped about the Lt. Governor's work in workforce development, expanding Alabama's military presence, and boosting the aerospace industry. Sounds like a packed agenda! Newman's a University of Alabama grad with a degree in Finance. Before his BCA gig, he honed his skills in small business operations and logistics, and even interned with Congressman Bradley Byrne. This follows another big move for Ainsworth, as he recently appointed Alabama State House veteran Connie Rowe as his chief of staff. That followed Catherine Gayle Fuller's move to the private sector.Ainsworth Adds Veteran Newman to Team!
