The Hypocrisy is Real, Folks!

For ages, the media and their Dem allies have been trying to shut down conservatives and anyone who doesn't toe their ever-changing line. It's cancel culture gone wild!

But Wait, There's More!

Then, tragedy struck (hypothetically, of course – Charlie Kirk is alive and kicking!). Suddenly, the very same folks who champion cancellation are screaming "Leave them alone!" when teachers, doctors, and social media trolls celebrate someone's demise.

Not So Fast!

Nah, that ain't gonna fly. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, right? We're calling out this blatant double standard!

Dale Jackson Weighs In

Speaking of calling things out, Dale Jackson, the brilliant mind behind Yellowhammer News and host of the "Dale Jackson Show" on WVNN, weekdays 5-9 a.m., has probably got something to say about this, too!

Auburn Fires Employees Over Controversial Social Media Posts

Auburn University is facing some serious heat, and they're responding! The school recently announced it's canned some employees over social media posts related to the death of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. These posts, according to the university, were "hurtful, insensitive, and completely at odds with Auburn’s values of respect, integrity, and responsibility."

University President Speaks Out

Auburn University President Christopher Roberts didn't mince words, stating, "We are terminating the employment of those individuals. We unequivocally condemn this conduct, which is antithetical to values we hold dear." He emphasized that everyone at Auburn has a responsibility to maintain a "civil, respectful, and supportive campus environment."

The Post in Question

While Roberts didn't name names, the move follows a controversial post from employee Seth McCollough, who also performs as Colana Bleu. McCollough's post reportedly mocked Kirk's death. McCollough had previously been terminated from Drake Middle School for allegedly discussing gender and sexual topics with students.

"Stay Mad, I Do Not Care"

McCollough's post reportedly stated something along the lines of, "His children will hopefully be better people now their dad isn’t around to spew his hateful nonsense... Stay mad I do not care.” Yikes.

Political Leaders Applaud the Decision

The firings are getting a thumbs-up from some of Alabama's top political figures. Senator Katie Britt, Senator Tommy Tuberville (also a former Auburn football coach), and Attorney General Steve Marshall have all publicly praised the university's swift action.

The Conservative Movement Keeps Burning Bright After Kirk's Passing

C.J. Pearson, a prominent conservative activist, believes the movement sparked by Charlie Kirk will endure and even flourish despite the tragic loss.

A Young Start with a Huge Impact

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically killed last week at an event on the Utah Valley University campus. Pearson, Co-Chair of the GOP Youth Advisory Council and a University of Alabama alum, shared his thoughts on Kirk's legacy Wednesday on WVNN’s “The Dale Jackson Show.”

Pearson recalled, "I knew Charlie since I was 12. He reached out when my first video went viral, offering encouragement that meant the world to me, especially growing up in a Democrat household."

Growth in the Face of Tragedy

Pearson highlighted the surge in interest at the University of Alabama following Kirk’s death. "I spoke with the president of Turning Point USA here at Alabama just days ago, and they said membership jumped from 200 to 700 people! The conservative community here is growing."

He also addressed some unfortunate reactions from faculty, particularly one professor's spreading of unfounded conspiracy theories.

Kirk's Legacy Lives On

Ultimately, Pearson remains optimistic, asserting that Kirk's movement will only gain momentum. "My heart is broken, not just for losing a friend, but because the country lost a true patriot. But I'm relieved to see his movement continues to live on. Vigils are packed, and people are starting Turning Point USA chapters. Charlie is looking down from heaven and smiling."

A Small-Town Start with Big-Time Dreams

Caroleene Dobson's always been a believer in roots. Growing up on her family's Monroe County cattle farm, she learned the value of hard work and neighborly love early on. These lessons instilled resilience and a deep sense of responsibility that have shaped her journey.

Dreaming Beyond the Horizon

It was a high school English teacher who encouraged Caroleene to dream big. That nudge led her to Harvard College, where she studied History and Literature, sharpening her critical thinking and persuasive writing skills. She later excelled at Baylor University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. But for Caroleene, success was never just about personal gain; it was about honoring the opportunities she'd been given.

Alabama's Calling

After law school, Caroleene practiced in Texas, where she met her husband, Bobby. But when they were expecting their first child, Alabama called her home. "There was nowhere else I'd rather raise my kids," she says. They returned to Montgomery in 2019 and are now raising their two daughters, Philippa and Lydia. Returning was a choice to invest in the place that shaped her, tackling the "brain drain" while championing Alabama's potential. Her goal? To create opportunities so future generations can thrive without leaving.

Making an Impact

Caroleene's a respected attorney and shareholder at Maynard Nexsen, specializing in natural resources, commercial finance, and real estate law. She's guided clients through complex conservation easements and multimillion-dollar deals, earning accolades for her work. She's most proud of balancing her career with her roots, raising her children close to her childhood home. Caroleene finds that her agrarian upbringing instilled collaboration and creative problem-solving which now help her thrive in real estate law.

Inspired by Women

Caroleene credits the many women who've shaped her, but none more than her mother, Lynne Hardee. Lynne ran a physical therapy clinic while also managing the family farm and actively participating in civic organizations. Caroleene strives to emulate her mother’s example of service and commitment, demonstrating that in every interaction.

Family First

Despite her professional achievements, Caroleene identifies most as a wife and mother. Her daughters are her "most precious gifts," deepening her sense of purpose. "You live for your children," she says. Motherhood inspires her to ensure a safer, more prosperous future for all children in Alabama. She's a strong advocate for in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and has shared her family's experience with loss, highlighting the need for empathy in addressing addiction.

A Vision of Leadership

Caroleene approaches leadership with humility and gratitude, guided by her faith. She focuses on shared values – faith, family, hard work – and a better future for the next generation. “True gospel-humility means I stop connecting every experience, every conversation, with myself. I stop thinking about myself altogether"

A True Woman of Impact

Caroleene's influence spans law, public service, and community leadership, driven by her belief in Alabama's bright future. She's passionate about conserving resources, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for young people. Grounded in her roots and guided by faith, Caroleene Dobson's a leader whose impact extends far beyond herself. She defines success by the opportunities she creates for others, making her a true Woman of Impact.

Auburn's Untamed Start

The Auburn Tigers are roaring! Three games in, and they're still undefeated. That's the first time in half a decade, kicking off with a sweet victory over the Baylor Bears. But hold your horses, ChumCity! Conference play is a whole different beast.

Sooner Showdown

The SEC schedule makers must be chuckling. Auburn's hitting the road to Norman, Oklahoma, to face the Sooners right out of the gate. Talk about a trial by fire!

Arnold's Redemption Tour?

Here's the kicker: Tigers QB Jackson Arnold is an Oklahoma transfer. Remember him? Five-star recruit, supposed heir apparent... things just didn't click in 2024. Benchings, struggles – he needed a fresh start.

Auburn's given him that. With his legs and a way better receiving corps, the Tigers might have found their guy. But is he "the guy?" We'll know around 6:30 p.m. CST on Saturday.

Norman Nightmare

The Tigers are strutting into Oklahoma with confidence. But this is a huge test, and Arnold's gonna face a brutal reception. Sooner fans won't be happy he left, especially after struggling. If Arnold can block out the noise and play his game, Auburn has a shot.

The Real Deal

But it's not just the hostile crowd. This Oklahoma team is legit – probably way better than Baylor. The real question? How much has Arnold improved, and just how good is this Auburn team?

These first few weeks have been promising, but Norman is where we get the real answers.

Opelika Ditches Miss America's Name from Welcome Signs!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCity citizens! Opelika has seen some serious sign drama go down. Seems like Mallory Hagan, Miss America 2013, is no longer officially welcomed in town. Her name? Gone from the city's welcome signs!

What's the Deal?

Apparently, a petition demanding the removal of Hagan's name gathered nearly a thousand signatures. Ouch! The petition followed some heated online commentary from Hagan regarding conservative figure Charlie Kirk.

Victory Declared!

The petition organizer wasted no time celebrating, stating, "I am writing to let you all know that the city has removed the signs. We are thankful to the city and Mayor for their swift action in this matter."

Before & After

Opelika officials were tight-lipped about the removal, but photos don't lie! Hagan's name has indeed vanished from the signs.

The TikTok Tussle

The controversy stems from videos Hagan posted addressing Kirk following his assassination. Hagan's remarks ignited a firestorm, with many residents taking issue with her statements. She called Kirk a "bigot and a racist" who was also "selfish."

Baby Duck Daycare Quacked Up: Jury Awards $660K After Infants Exposed to THC

Hold the phone, ChumCity! A Jefferson County jury just slapped Baby Duck Academy, a Birmingham daycare, with a $660,000 bill in compensatory and punitive damages. Why? Apparently, some babies were exposed to THC while under their "care." Attorney Eric Guster is calling foul!

THC Troubles at the Daycare?

The case revolved around a nine-month-old who tested positive for THC back in 2022. Guster alleges that at least TWO little ones ended up in the Children’s Hospital Emergency Room after parents scooped them up from Baby Duck Academy. Yikes!

Missing Video & Dodgy Behavior

According to Guster, Baby Duck Academy's owner, Sherman Collins, admitted he "accidentally" deleted surveillance footage of the infant room. Seriously? Guster also claims that Collins and his staff gave the cold shoulder to the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR), allegedly refusing drug tests and conveniently forgetting to hand over promised video evidence.

Finger-Pointing Foiled

Guster points out that DHR never bothered to drug test the daycare staff. Meanwhile, the child’s mom and grandma had to endure all sorts of tests to clear their names. Seems a little lopsided, right?

Justice Served?

After a five-day trial overseen by Judge Bowling, the jury sided with the baby! Guster celebrated the win, emphasizing the absurdity of blaming the family.

Mom's Relief

The child's mother expressed pure relief, exclaiming, “It feels great!" after enduring nearly four years of legal battles.

Sending a Message

Guster made it clear that multiple children tested positive for THC and were hospitalized. He believes the jury's verdict sends a strong message: Childcare facilities need to be held accountable!

ChumCity Daily Dose

Kimmel's Kirk Comments Cause Chaos

Jimmy Kimmel's edgy jokes about Charlie Kirk's assassination attempt landed him in hot water. Think: FCC review, show suspension, and a whole lot of "free speech" arguments from folks who conveniently forgot their support for silencing online voices not too long ago.

Birmingham's ShotSpotter Shuffle

Birmingham city officials know the score: gunshot detection works. But, politics, man! That sweet $1 million investment in sensors that alert cops to shootings? Pushed 'til after the elections. Gotta love how priorities work, right?

Fed Gives the Economy a Break

The Fed just slashed interest rates – a quarter point, but still! Translation: money's cheaper to borrow. Maybe this will give the economy a little pep in its step. We'll see.

Deportation Drama at the Border

Mahmoud Khalil is headed back to either Algeria or Syria, ordered to be deported by a judge. Visa issues, prior deportations, the works. Asylum claim? Denied. Another day, another deportation.

Trump Targets Antifa

Remember when Trump wanted to label Antifa a "major terrorist organization"? That's back in the news. Idea was to unleash federal resources to keep tabs on them.

Opelika's Signage Showdown

Mallory Hagan (ex-Miss America) got her welcome signs yanked in Opelika. Why? A TikTok rant where she called Charlie Kirk names after his near-death experience. Small towns and big opinions, what a combo.

Auburn Employees Face the Music

Auburn is serious about respecting the dead (or nearly dead). Multiple employees got the boot for mocking Charlie Kirk's assassination attempt. Meanwhile, some educator in Marshall County dared to suggest "they can't fire me." Yeah, good luck with that, buddy.

Staci Brown Brooks: A Heart for Alabama

When Staci Brown Brooks reflects on her amazing career, one word keeps popping up: service. And boy, has she served! Her community, our state, and all those organizations she's led have benefited big time.

From newsrooms to corporate suites, Staci's career is all about purpose, teamwork, and giving back. Now, as VP of Charitable Giving at Alabama Power and president of the Alabama Power Foundation, she's helping shape our future by supporting nonprofits and inspiring folks to volunteer.

Leading with Love for Alabama

"Leading this work in the state I love is a true honor," says Staci. "The Alabama Power Foundation takes its responsibility to our state super seriously. Over almost 36 years, we've given nearly $300 million to nonprofits that help veterans, teachers, students, clinics, and so much more!"

From Reporter to Leader

Staci's journey started way before corner offices. After graduating from the University of Alabama in journalism, she became a copy editor at the Detroit Free Press. Then, she came back home, joining The Tuscaloosa News and later The Birmingham News, climbing the ranks to become director of interactive content.

"I've done so many different things, and I see how they all fit together," she says. "I started in journalism, then wondered if my skills could work in corporate life."

That question led her to Alabama Power, where she's spent almost a decade in PR, marketing, digital strategy, and business development. Each role prepared her to lead the company's charitable giving and its foundation.

Impact Through Giving

As president of the Alabama Power Foundation and executive director of the Alabama Business Charitable (ABC) Trust Fund, Staci oversees programs that make a real difference. The foundation has given nearly $300 million in grants, while the ABC Trust has invested $40 million to help low-income families meet basic needs.

But it's not just about money. Staci champions a culture of service at Alabama Power, highlighting the thousands of hours employees and retirees give to local nonprofits.

Inspired by Strong Women

Staci credits her impact to the amazing women in her life. "My mother was my North Star," she shares. "She lived a life of service as a nurse and educator for over 40 years. I miss her every day."

Her 7-year-old daughter also inspires her with her courage and authenticity. "She's bold, fearless, and hilarious in a way I've never been. She's teaching me!"

She also honors her grandmothers, sister, aunts, friends, teachers, and colleagues, saying: "Alabama grows strong, inspiring women." And she's quick to add that her husband is her biggest supporter.

Leadership with Heart

Staci's definition of leadership isn't about titles but about integrity and compassion.

"Care for others more than yourself. Be trustworthy. Know what you know and what you don't," she explains. "These attributes illustrate one's character."

That's why she's a respected leader at Alabama Power and in civic and nonprofit circles. She serves on boards like Vulcan Park and Museum and the YWCA Central Alabama.

Honoring Alabama Roots

A Selma native, Staci stays connected to her roots. She lives in the Birmingham area with her husband and daughter.

The University of Alabama honored her as a "60 for 60" alumna during the 60th anniversary of desegregation. She's also completed leadership programs at Columbia and Harvard.

A Life of Service

Looking back, Staci is most proud of serving her state. "I'm really proud I get to serve through nonprofit partnerships and volunteer service," she says.

Her journey from journalism to corporate leadership shows her versatility and her dedication to lifting others up. Staci Brown Brooks is a true inspiration, a model of integrity, teamwork, and impact.
