Senator Tubs Sounds Off on Dem Standoff!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCityizens! Alabama's own Senator Tommy Tuberville is throwin' down the gauntlet, warning Democrats about the potential fallout if they keep blocking efforts to keep the federal government running!

Dems Digging in Their Heels?

Apparently, Senate Democrats have voted a whopping thirteen times against a straightforward funding bill that would keep the government afloat through November. Talk about gridlock!

Is the Filibuster Next on the Chopping Block?

Even with a Republican majority in the Senate, they can't seem to muster the 60 votes needed to dodge a filibuster. Tuberville recently told Fox Business that maybe, just maybe, it's time for the GOP to consider "nuking" the filibuster to get things moving.

Tuberville's Take: It's About the People!

"The Democrats have voted 13 times to shut their government down, 13 times not to pay our veterans, not to pay our troops, and to cut snap cards," Tuberville exclaimed. He suggests that if Democrats continue playing politics, busting the filibuster might be the only option left on the table.

A Last Resort?

The Senator did admit he's not thrilled about the idea. "I hate to say that I’m not one to do that, but at the end of the day, if we ever lose the Senate, they’re going to do it anyway."

NCAA's Gambling U-Turn?

Hold up, ChumCity citizens! The NCAA dropped a bombshell earlier this month. Remember how student-athletes were totally banned from any sports betting? Well, get this: they're now thinking about letting them bet...but only on professional sports.

Seriously, NCAA?

The immediate reaction? A collective "Huh?" Why even open this can of worms, especially when pro sports are already drowning in scandal? Are they trying to tempt fate?

SEC Commissioner Says "Pump the Brakes!"

Greg Sankey, the SEC Commissioner, is begging the NCAA to rethink this bizarre decision. He's not mincing words!

A Plea for Sanity

Sankey wrote a letter, making it clear SEC Presidents and Chancellors want the NCAA to reinstate the ban on gambling for student-athletes and staff, period. No exceptions!

Vulnerability Concerns

He highlighted the vulnerability of college athletes, citing accessible mobile betting, financial pressures, and social influence. He fears compromised situations are practically inevitable. Think fewer resources, greater outside influence, and a whole lotta potential for trouble.

Last Stand Before November 1st?

The rule change is set to kick in November 1st. Sounds like Sankey and his crew are making a final push to stop it. Will they succeed? Only time will tell!

Alabama Scores Big: #1 in Religious Freedom!

Okay, ChumCity citizens, you know we love bragging rights. We're used to Alabama dominating the college football scene, making waves in basketball, and, of course, owning that sweet spot at the top of the alphabet. But hold on to your hats, because there's a new champ in town!

Alabama just snagged the numero uno spot nationally for protecting religious freedom. That's right, we're talking even more protection than the good ol' U.S. Constitution!

Faith-Friendly State Status: Confirmed

A recent study crowned Alabama as the most "faith-friendly" state in the entire country. Meanwhile, places like Michigan and Washington are bringing up the rear when it comes to safeguarding the rights of religious ministries. Ouch!

How'd We Do It?

The "Faith & Freedom Index" dug deep into state laws, checking out everything from regulations to employment laws, to see how well they protect faith-based organizations. And guess who came out on top? That's right, it's us! Alongside Kansas, Indiana, Texas, and Mississippi, Alabama is leading the charge.

What's Next?

Even as number one, Alabama can still level up its game! With the support of awesome citizen groups and bold voices across the state, we're ready to keep pushing for even stronger protections. This is a moment to celebrate our religious liberty, while always striving to protect our freedoms for generations to come.

Alabama Joins Fight Over Birthright Citizenship!

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is throwing down with 23 other states in a Supreme Court showdown! They're backing President Trump's executive order that challenges the automatic citizenship given to kids born in the US to undocumented folks or temporary visitors.

Trump's Order Sparks Legal Fireworks

Remember Trump's first-day-in-office move? He basically said, "Hold up! Not everyone born here is automatically a citizen!" That order's been tied up in court ever since, and now it's headed to the Big Leagues – the Supreme Court!

States Argue Intent of the 14th Amendment

These states are saying the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause was specifically meant to give citizenship to freed slaves and their descendants, NOT to automatically cover children of people who are here illegally or just visiting.

The Burden on States

They're also highlighting the financial and safety strains they claim are caused by illegal immigration.

Marshall's Strong Stance

"The Constitution isn't a free pass for breaking the law!" declared Marshall. "Citizenship should go to those loyal to our country – the kids of American citizens and legal permanent residents. Not just anyone who happens to be born here! President Trump is right to get back to the original meaning of the Citizenship Clause, and we're pushing the Supreme Court to agree!"

Joining the Coalition

Alabama is teaming up with Tennessee, Iowa, and a whole bunch of other states – Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming. This legal battle is heating up!

Governor Ivey Tackles Montgomery Crime with Alcohol Regulation Review

Governor Kay Ivey is taking action to curb crime in Montgomery and other Alabama hotspots. Her strategy? Asking the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board to tighten up the state's alcohol rules.

This move comes after that scary downtown Montgomery shooting on October 4, where several people were hurt.

Cracking Down After Dark

Ivey wants ABC Administrator Curtis Stewart to dive deep into Alabama's alcohol laws, especially for businesses slinging drinks after 5 p.m. in busy areas and at special events in Montgomery.

"Public safety comes first," says Ivey. "We're gonna make sure our communities are safe." She backs Stewart's plan to explore "commonsense steps" in entertainment districts and is ready for some serious policy changes.

ABC's Action Plan

Stewart responded with a plan that includes both immediate and long-term fixes. The goal is crystal clear: boost public safety through adjustments to ABC policy.

Proposed Rule Changes:

  • No more selling cups or ice in package stores in entertainment zones – cutting down on that sneaky off-premises boozing!
  • Limits on how much alcohol special retail licensees can sell for drinking elsewhere.

Legislative Changes Needed:

  • Curfews for minors in entertainment districts.
  • No free alcohol giveaways at big events in entertainment districts.
  • The power to shut down an entire entertainment district if it doesn't meet public safety standards.

Stewart says he's been talking to all kinds of folks to make sure these changes will actually work across Alabama. He's also keen to work with lawmakers who want to push these reforms during the 2026 legislative session.

Building on Past Efforts

These ABC actions build on past attempts to reduce violent crime. Efforts such as the ALEA-led Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit and the 2025 Safe Alabama legislative package have been key to the Ivey administration's goal to make Alabama safer for everyone.

Alabama Man Nabbed for Synagogue Threats!

A Choctaw County dude found himself in cuffs Tuesday night after allegedly making some seriously scary threats against synagogues in Alabama and neighboring states. Law enforcement also says he had political officials in his sights. Yikes!

The Suspect

The man in question is Jeremy Wayne Shoemaker from Needham, a small town in Choctaw County.

The Investigation

The FBI, along with the local District Attorney and the Special Response Team, got tipped off that Shoemaker was allegedly threatening houses of worship and government bigwigs. Not cool!

The Raid

A search warrant was executed at Shoemaker's place, and what they found was alarming. Cops say they discovered several firearms, a suitcase full of ammo, body armor, and other stuff that suggests he was planning some serious mayhem.

Prevented Attacks?

Law enforcement officials claim Shoemaker didn't want to be taken alive and may have had plans to attack public figures. Authorities believe his arrest nipped multiple acts of violence in the bud. Close call!

Feds Involved

"This investigation is just getting started and involves a bunch of federal agencies," officials said. "Expect to see multiple federal charges coming."

Local Charges First

Shoemaker is currently facing local charges for resisting arrest and illegally possessing a firearm. These charges will be reviewed at the federal level.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

The 1st Judicial Circuit Special Response Team, made up of deputies and officers from various agencies, played a key role. Agencies like the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office, and police departments from Jackson, Grove Hill, Thomasville, and Butler all pitched in.

Moore Gets Big Endorsement for Senate Run!

Rep. Barry Moore's Senate bid just got a major boost! Another big name in the conservative world is backing him to fill the seat Senator Tommy Tuberville will be leaving in 2026.

Senator Daines Throws His Hat in the Ring

Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.), former head honcho of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, officially endorsed Moore on Wednesday.

Daines' Take on Moore

"Barry Moore is a conservative force who actually delivers," Daines said. "He's exactly the kind of reliable leader we need in the Senate. I'm stoked to endorse him and eager to collaborate on pushing President Trump's agenda forward. Barry will be a fantastic successor to Senator Tuberville, fighting alongside us to cut government size, slash taxes, and boost the economy for everyday families."

Joining the Chorus of Support

Daines is now part of a growing group of heavy hitters supporting Moore, including Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.) and Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

Moore Responds

"I'm deeply grateful for Senator Daines's support," Moore stated. "His leadership at the NRSC was instrumental in reclaiming the Senate for our party. As a Senator, he's been a tireless champion for freedom and economic growth. If elected, I'm ready to join him in that fight!"
