Robertson Makes Closing Argument Ahead of Primary

With the Republican primary just around the corner, attorney general candidate Katherine Robertson is pulling out all the stops! She's hitting the airwaves with a new TV ad focused on her impressive record.

A Decade of Tough-on-Crime Action

The ad spotlights Robertson's ten years of experience in the attorney general's office, during which she spearheaded some seriously impactful legislation. We're talking about the Alabama Criminal Enterprise and Prevention Act, which she proudly calls the toughest gang law in the entire country. This bad boy significantly ups prison sentences for felonies tied to criminal enterprises, with absolutely NO chance of parole or early release. Ouch!

Remembering Deputy Brad Johnson

Robertson also championed the Deputy Brad Johnson Act. This law puts the brakes on those "good time" credits for violent offenders, ensuring they serve their full sentences. It's named in honor of a Bibb County deputy tragically killed by an inmate who shouldn't have been released in the first place.

"I'll Always Have Their Backs"

"We passed the toughest gang law in the country, made violent criminals serve longer sentences, and protected victims' rights," Robertson says in the ad. She's got some major backing too! "Sheriffs across the state from Huntsville to Mobile have endorsed me. They've worked with me for ten years, and they know that I will always have their backs."

Who's Backing Robertson?

Turns out, Robertson's got endorsements from a whopping 25 of Alabama's 67 county sheriffs. Not to mention Hoover Police Chief Clay Morris, Hoover Mayor Nick Derzis, and the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Alabama. Talk about a strong coalition!

The Competition

Robertson is facing off against former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey in the upcoming May 19 Republican primary. It's gonna be a showdown!
