Rep. Moore Takes Aim at Sharia Law

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is stepping up to bat, folks, introducing the CRUSADE Act! The goal? To make sure anyone seeking to enter the good ol' U.S. of A. as a religious worker isn't secretly plotting to impose Sharia law.

CRUSADE Act: What's the Deal?

This new legislation (Countering Radicalism Under Sharia and Defeating Extremism Act) would tweak the EB-4 special immigrant visa, including the religious worker category. Basically, it'd require folks to publicly denounce Sharia law and swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.

Constitution First, Always!

"America's built on the Constitution," Moore said. "Not some foreign legal system that clashes with our freedoms." He wants to ensure that anyone coming here as a religious worker commits to the Constitution and rejects the extremist stuff sometimes found in Sharia law.

Not His First Rodeo

This isn't Moore's first tango with Sharia law. Earlier this year, he introduced the Defeat Sharia Law in America Act, aiming to clarify that any discrimination carried out under Sharia law violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Moore's Concerns

Moore points out that Sharia law, in some parts of the world, has been used to justify nasty stuff like persecuting religious minorities, restricting women, and putting religious law above the law of the land. He believes anyone seeking the privilege of living here as a religious worker should proudly affirm that the Constitution reigns supreme.

Protecting Our Freedom

"Religious liberty is a founding principle," Moore declared, "but it can't come at the expense of the constitutional order that protects all Americans!"
