Hold on to your hats, ChumCity citizens! Governor Kay Ivey is showing her trademark grit after undergoing a minor procedure Tuesday afternoon at Baptist South. Seems some pesky fluid was putting the squeeze on her lung. According to Governor Ivey's office, she'd been experiencing some discomfort. Not one to let anything slow her down, she got checked out, and doctors decided to drain that fluid ASAP. "The Governor wanted to get the procedure done quickly," said Gina Maiola, Governor Ivey’s Communications Director. She's aiming to "get back to 100% to wrap up the 2026 Regular Session." And speaking of that session, lawmakers are already back in Montgomery for the 25th day! Governor Ivey, who is 81 and was declared cancer-free back in 2020 after battling Stage I lung cancer, is expected to make a speedy recovery. She's being monitored at Baptist South, but sources say she's determined to get back in action.
