Alabama Democrats Eye Upset in Deep Red District?

Could Alabama's Democratic Party be plotting a surprise victory in a staunchly Republican stronghold? Tabitha Isner, Vice Chair of the state party, is actively seeking a candidate to challenge for the District 47 State House seat, currently held by Rep. Mike Shaw (R-Hoover).

A Glimmer of Hope?

Isner took to Facebook, stating, "Looking for a Democrat to step up in District 47! This district spans Vestavia Hills to Hoover and is currently held by Republican Rep. Mike Shaw." She highlighted that Harris secured 41% of the vote in the district during the 2024 election. "If the 10 point shift to the Left continues, this seat can be won by a Democrat! Please talk to anyone you know in the area and help us identify a candidate!"

Uphill Battle Ahead

Shaw's 2022 victory saw him capture 64% of the vote, and President Trump dominated Alabama in 2024, snagging almost 65% of the statewide vote. Isner's optimism raises eyebrows, considering the significant Republican advantage. Can a Democrat pull off the upset? Only time will tell!
