Alabama Power Promises to Hold the Line on Rates!

Big news, ChumCity! Alabama Power is stepping up to bat with a plan to keep your electric bills from skyrocketing for the next two years! They're aiming for some serious rate stability, folks.

What's the Deal?

According to a recent filing, Alabama Power wants to freeze several rate factors in place through 2027. This means no sneaky add-on charges bumping up your costs in 2026 and 2027. They're even talking about using some internal cost-cutting magic to make it happen.

Keeping Costs Down

They plan to hold the line on some adjustable charges, including Rate CNP Part C and the interim fuel-cost (ECR) factor. Plus, they're pushing back a plant cost adjustment until 2028.

What Alabama Power Says:

"We're all about helping customers manage those power bills," says Alabama Power. "Budgets are tight, and we get that. We want to give you some certainty with your electric rates, especially when everything else seems to be going up."

A Little Caveat...

Of course, the amount of juice you use still matters! Crank up that AC or let the heat blast, and your bill will still reflect it. And, naturally, unforeseen disasters could throw a wrench in the works.

Fewer Surprises on the Horizon?

Fingers crossed, if the Alabama Public Service Commission gives the green light, we could be seeing fewer surprises on our energy bills for the next couple of years. Stay tuned, ChumCity!
