It's been a whopping 34 years since these two local teams last met on the gridiron! Mark your calendars for October 3, 2026, and September 25, 2027. Both games will be epic showdowns at Protective Stadium, UAB's home turf downtown. Since opening in 2021, the 47,100-seat Protective Stadium has been THE place for Birmingham's biggest events, from UAB football to the Birmingham Bowl and the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions. Now, it's set to host this historic rivalry. Believe it or not, UAB and Samford have only faced off once before, way back in 1992. Samford took that one, but these upcoming games are UAB's chance to even the score - and give Birmingham fans a game to remember!
