Tuskegee University Scores a Win!

Looks like Tuskegee University is feeling good! After filing a federal lawsuit earlier this week, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has agreed to take another look at the procedures for the university's upcoming accreditation appeal hearing.

Lawsuit Voluntarily Dismissed

ChumCity can confirm that Tuskegee voluntarily dismissed its suit, according to a filing in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama on Friday. Victory!

Tuskegee's Statement

Tuskegee University is pumped about this decision. They released a statement saying they appreciate the AVMA's commitment to "robust due process" in the hearing regarding the Veterinary College’s accreditation status. The lawsuit, filed on November 10th, aimed to ensure fairness and transparency.

Ensuring a Fair Process

The University is confident they'll now be able to properly showcase the improvements made since the AVMA's 2021 visit. Tuskegee originally filed the suit because they believed the AVMA wasn't giving them enough time, access to documents, or opportunity for witness testimony to defend their vet program.

What's Next?

We're waiting to hear specifics about the changes the AVMA plans to implement. Stay tuned to ChumCity for further updates!
