Big news out of Samford! After a tough 38-14 loss at home against East Tennessee State, and a season that's seen the Bulldogs struggle to a 1-9 record, head football coach Chris Hatcher has been given his marching orders. It wasn't that long ago that Hatcher was riding high, leading Samford to an incredible 8-0 conference record and an 11-2 overall mark in 2022. They snagged a Southern Conference championship and even stormed into the FCS quarterfinals. But those days feel like a distant memory now. The Bulldogs have stumbled to an 11-21 record over the past three seasons, and the powers that be in Samford decided it was time for a fresh start. "Coach Hatcher has always represented the university and our football program with dignity and class," said Samford VP for Intercollegiate Athletics Martin Newton. "We've enjoyed some incredible moments together... However, the results on the field the last few seasons have not met our expectations." Hatcher wraps up his time at Samford with a 62-59 overall record. No interim coach has been announced yet, but the Bulldogs have got to regroup fast! They're hitting the road this week to face off against Austin Peay.Bulldog Bites the Dust: Hatcher Out at Samford
