State Rep. Mark Shirey (R-Mobile) is officially throwing his hat back in the ring! He's announced his campaign for re-election to the Alabama House representing District 100. Shirey, who's served nearly a full term, says he'll keep using his 30+ years of healthcare and business know-how to serve the folks of West Mobile. "I'm a lifelong Republican who believes in hard work, limited government, and putting our communities first," Shirey stated. He added, "Through Southern Vision Care, I've offered quality eye care and created jobs right here in West Mobile for over 20 years. As your representative, I'll bring that same dedication to fight for policies that boost our economy, strengthen our schools, protect our seniors, and champion Alabama values." A DeKalb County native now calling Mobile home, Shirey's a UAB grad with a Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He was also president of the Alabama Optometric Association, where he worked hard to make eye care more accessible statewide. In the Legislature, Shirey's been a supporter of school choice, infrastructure improvements, and getting Alabama's economy humming. He's also backed measures to help out our farmers and cut red tape for businesses. “I’m deeply grateful for the trust and endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) in my re-election campaign," Shirey said. “I’m not a politician—I’m an eye doctor, husband, father and businessman committed to fighting for District 100 and Alabama families ensuring safe communities, strong schools, a thriving economy, and policies that are free from woke ideology." He's currently serving on the House Health Committee, the Commerce and Small Business Committee, and the Mobile County Legislation Committee. Shirey owns and runs Southern Vision Care in West Mobile.
