Rhett Marques Announces Run for Alabama's 1st Congressional District in 2026!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCity! State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) just threw his hat in the ring for Alabama's 1st Congressional District in 2026. He's aiming to bring his state-level mojo all the way to Washington, D.C., as a self-proclaimed pro-Trump conservative Republican.

Filling Some Big Shoes

Marques is vying for the seat currently occupied by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise). Moore's taking a statewide leap, opening up the opportunity for new blood. Fun fact: Marques previously stepped into Moore's shoes when he nabbed the Coffee County seat in the Alabama House back in 2018. Talk about déjà vu!

Tax Cuts and Family Values

Marques is touting his record, highlighting votes for recent tax cuts, including those ongoing reductions to the state grocery tax, the diaper tax holiday, and tax relief for retirees.

“I’m a proven conservative fighter with a strong record of putting Alabama’s families first and protecting our values," Marques declared, promising to be a champion for Alabamians and to help Trump roll back Biden's economic policies.

Coastal Roots and Wiregrass Heart

Marques has strong ties to the re-drawn 1st Congressional District, having grown up in Spanish Fort (Baldwin County) and graduated from Fairhope High. He also owns Goodson Tire & Auto in Enterprise.

"I have a love for the First Congressional District that lies in my passion for and understanding of the Wiregrass region where I live today and for the coastal area where I was born and where my roots run deep," Marques states, emphasizing his ability to represent the entire district.
