Special Election Alert for House District 38!

Get ready to head to the polls, folks! Governor Ivey has officially called a special election to fill the House District 38 seat. Mark your calendars: the primary is October 21, 2025, with a potential runoff on November 18, 2025, and the big general election showdown on February 3, 2026.

Why the Special Election?

This all stems from State Rep. Debbie Wood's recent resignation. She's moving out of state with her family for a sweet new job opportunity. We wish her all the best!

What's District 38, Anyway?

House District 38 covers parts of Chambers and Lee counties. That includes Valley, Lanett, Huguley, Cusseta, Beulah, and some areas just outside Opelika and Smiths Station. So, if you live there, this election's for you!

Ivey's Words & Qualifying Deadlines

Governor Ivey gave a shout-out to Debbie Wood's awesome service and encouraged everyone to get out and vote. If you're thinking about running, major-party candidates need to get their paperwork in by Wednesday, August 20, 2025. That's the deadline to qualify!

A Republican Stronghold?

Historically, this seat leans heavily Republican. Wood snagged a whopping 88.8% of the vote in 2022, and around 70% back in 2018.

Who's Running?
