Tuberville Sounds Off on Commanders' Name Change

Senator Tommy Tuberville recently stirred the pot on the "Longshore and McKnight" show, wading into the ongoing debate about the Washington Commanders' name. Apparently, former President Trump is still pushing hard for the team to revert to its former moniker: the Washington Redskins.

"I've been around him when he's vented about it," Tuberville said, suggesting Trump's frustration is no secret.

Tuberville's Rant

Tuberville then zeroed in on Commanders owner Josh Harris, claiming he's overly concerned with player opinions. "Of course, you've got this owner that's all scared of the players," Tuberville said, adding some eyebrow-raising commentary about the team's demographics. He insisted Harris needs to remember that fans, not players, are the ones buying tickets.

Uniform Woes

The senator also took aim at the team's uniforms. "When you see the great colors, gold and maroon, and then you got a W on the side of the helmet. What the hell is that?"

Wokeness Blamed?

Tuberville chalked the name change up to "wokeness, DEI, and social justice," urging a return to American values and listening to the fans. He argued that the players are employees, not decision-makers.

Native American Support?

Interestingly, Tuberville claimed that Native Americans themselves are in favor of bringing back the "Redskins" name. He pointed to legal actions, like a lawsuit filed by the Native American Guardians Association (NAGA) against the team and Harris, alleging defamation and civil rights violations.
