Dr. Brian Christine's Nomination Gets a Boost!

Alabama's own Dr. Brian Christine from Mountain Brook got a major shout-out from Senator Tommy Tuberville this week! Tuberville introduced Christine to his Senate colleagues during a nomination hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (HELP). You might remember that President Trump nominated this well-known Alabama urologist for Assistant Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Local Roots, Impressive Credentials

Dr. Christine earned his MD from Emory and completed his residency at UAB before joining Urology Centers of Alabama.

Addressing Key Health Issues

Tuberville highlighted that Dr. Christine, if confirmed, will oversee vital public health programs and the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He plans to focus on tackling chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity, addressing mental health, and tackling the physician shortage. Expanding access to primary care, especially in rural areas, is a top priority.

Restoring Trust in Healthcare

During the hearing, Dr. Christine emphasized the importance of restoring the public's trust in healthcare. He noted the erosion of trust during the pandemic and pledged to work with Secretary Kennedy and President Trump to rebuild it.

Christine previously ran for the Alabama Legislature in 2022 and for Jefferson County Commission in 2023.

Dr. Christine also echoed Secretary Kennedy's commitment to a "Make America Healthy Again" agenda, focusing on removing toxins from our food and ensuring access to clean water.
