Heartbreak in Huntsville: Family Lost in Montana Plane Crash

Alabama's reeling from the devastating loss of a Huntsville family. A father and his two daughters tragically perished in a plane crash in Montana's rugged Bob Marshall Wilderness.

The Powell County Sheriff’s Office received the initial report of a possible downed plane on Friday afternoon. A search involving air resources from Malmstrom Air Force Base and volunteer aircraft eventually located the wreckage deep within a heavily wooded area near Seeley Lake. Sadly, all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

Victims Identified

Authorities have identified the victims as Mark Anderson, the pilot, and his daughters, Lainey and Ellie Anderson, all hailing from Huntsville.

Investigation Underway

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are now leading the investigation to determine the cause of this heartbreaking accident.

A Rising Star Remembered

Lainey Anderson was a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/II) at Sanders Aviation in Jasper. The flight school remembered her as an "exceptional and skilled aviator" and a "beloved flight instructor." They shared that Lainey was an Auburn University Professional Flight program graduate and a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Their statement expressed profound sadness, requesting prayers for Lainey’s mother, Misty, and all of her loved ones.

Community Mourns

Monte Sano Baptist Church, the family's home church, shared updates during the search and has since expressed deep grief, asking for continued prayers for the Anderson family. The aviation and faith communities in Alabama are offering an outpouring of support.

Prayer Vigil Planned

A prayer vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville.

Further details about the crash are pending, with a preliminary report from federal investigators expected in the coming weeks.

Senator Britt Slams Dems Over Shutdown!

Alabama Senator Katie Britt didn't mince words on Sunday morning, folks! In a fiery interview on CBS's "Face the Nation," she declared reopening the federal government her "number one" priority. Britt accused Democrats of "playing politics" while hardworking Alabamians are struggling to make ends meet.

Shutdown Scaries? Britt Says End It Now!

Britt, speaking from Tuscaloosa, emphasized that debating the Affordable Care Act should wait until after the government is back up and running. She highlighted the very real pain felt by service members, veterans, federal workers, and their families.

"Do the Right Thing!"

"We need to reopen the government. Democrats need to come to the table and do the right thing," Britt exclaimed. She urged a vote on a Continuing Resolution (CR) to get the government back in action.

GOP Offers a Hand

Britt mentioned that Senate Republicans have proposed alternatives to protect workers, even if Democrats refuse a deal. These include measures to ensure that working folks actually get paid during the shutdown.

ACA Aftermath: Let's Talk... Later!

When pressed about expiring ACA tax credits and rising premiums, Britt reiterated that Republicans are willing to negotiate after the government is reopened. She argued that Democrats can handle multiple things at once – reopen the government then debate policy.

Obamacare's a "Mess," Claims Britt

Britt didn't hold back on her criticism of Obamacare, calling its cost structure "not sustainable." She argued that Democrats are asking taxpayers to subsidize higher-income households while federal employees go without pay during the shutdown. She added that health insurers say little of projected 2026 premium increases are from the credits debate. "It's ridiculous to say we’re afraid people cannot afford their health care, but at the same time we’re going to deny them their paycheck."

Community Rallies for Injured Cheerleader

The ChumCity community is holding Kimber Mills, an 18-year-old Cleveland High School cheerleader, in their hearts after she was critically injured in a shooting at a weekend bonfire in Jefferson County.

The Incident at "The Pit"

Reports say the incident occurred after midnight Sunday at a local gathering spot known as "The Pit," near Alabama 75 and Clay-Palmerdale Road. Authorities allege that Steven Tyler Whitehead, 27, crashed the gathering. A fight broke out after he allegedly approached a girl, and shots were fired.

Kimber's Fight for Life

Kimber, who wasn't involved in the altercation, was tragically struck in the head and leg. She was rushed to UAB Hospital and remains in critical condition with severe brain trauma. Her sister, Ashley Mills, shared a heartbreaking update, stating that doctors said there were no surgeries that could save her life.

An Outpouring of Support

The community has shown incredible support for Kimber and her family. Over 100 people gathered at the hospital Sunday, and prayer gatherings have been held at Cleveland High School.

A Light in the Community

Classmate Kyle Torbert described Kimber as someone who "will give you the love you need." Students at a Bible study call her "a light" who brightens everyone's day.

Community Vigil Planned

A prayer vigil is scheduled for Monday evening at 6 p.m. on the Cleveland High School football field. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink, Kimber's favorite color, to show their support.

Ongoing Investigation

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact them.

No Kings? More Like No Clue!

So, the national "No Kings" protests got the full media treatment, huh? Big crowds, lots of sound bites, perfect for the evening news!

The Demo-cratic Problem...

But while the press and their Dem pals are patting themselves on the back, let's be real. Anyone else notice these "grassroots" gatherings look like a retirement convention? Seriously, even in diverse cities like Birmingham and Boston, it's a sea of gray hair and... well, you get the picture.

Astroturfed Apathy

The truth is, these things reek of astroturfing. You can't keep trotting out the same tired protest every month just because your candidate lost. Eventually, even people who agreed with you are going to change the channel. Wake up!

The Voice of Reason

Just a heads up, Dale Jackson, a sharp mind at Yellowhammer News, brings the heat on WVNN weekdays from 5-9 a.m.

Trouble Brewing on the Plains?

Another Saturday night, another tough loss for the Auburn Tigers. It seems like under Coach Hugh Freeze, they're finding increasingly creative ways to land on the wrong side of SEC matchups. Ouch.

Is the End Near for Freeze?

While some fans hit their breaking point a while ago, this weekend's defeat against Mizzou felt different. A lot of folks are bracing for a coaching change. Even the talking heads are tossing out potential replacements – for a job that isn't technically available!

Feeling the Heat

As the pressure mounts, Freeze is definitely feeling it. He addressed the situation head-on in a recent presser, admitting he hadn't spoken to AD John Cohen. Seems he's fully aware of the rumor mill churning.

A Public Plea for Support

When asked what a vote of confidence from Cohen would mean, Freeze didn't mince words. "It would be huge. That would make everyone feel a lot better, for sure." He reiterated Cohen's support since his hiring and insisted he believes he can turn things around. "I want a chance to fix this," Freeze declared, adding that he feels he and his staff are a good fit for Auburn's culture.

Make-or-Break Moment?

Freeze is clearly making his case to keep his job amidst the rising calls for his dismissal. Another loss this week, especially against an Arkansas squad reeling from their own coaching drama, could seal his fate – a fate that might already be decided.
