East Wing Hullabaloo: Is This Really a Crisis?

The media and their Democrat pals are in a frenzy over... East Wing renovations? Seriously? It seems anything remotely connected to President Trump sets off a four-alarm fire these days.

Are Voters Buying It?

The mainstream media's pretending this is a hot-button issue for voters, but honestly, do they even believe that themselves? Color us skeptical.

Conspiracy Theories Abound!

Of course, the renovation drama has already spawned some truly wild theories. Apparently, a few folks online and on cable news think Trump's never leaving the White House. You can't make this stuff up!

Budd Backs Moore for Senate!

Hold on to your hats, ChumCityizens! The 2026 Alabama Senate race is already heating up! U.S. Senator Ted Budd of North Carolina just threw his support behind U.S. Rep. Barry Moore for that open Senate seat. And get this – he's the first sitting Senator to endorse anyone in the GOP primary!

"MAGA Conservative We Can Count On!"

"Barry Moore is a MAGA conservative we can count on," declared Budd. He pointed to the "Schumer Shutdown" (whatever that is!) as proof that we need "rock-solid, reliable Republicans" to fight the "Radical Left." He praised Moore's "spine of steel" and said he's stoked to have him in the Senate fighting for President Trump's agenda.

Moore's Stoked Too!

Moore returned the love, calling Budd "a great friend and a strong conservative." He’s proud to have Budd in his corner and vows to stand with Trump, just like Budd. Moore envisions a future where they keep the border secure, deport illegal immigrants, and "stop the indoctrination of our children." Whoa!

More Endorsements Roll In

This isn't Moore's first rodeo. He's already got endorsements from the Senate Conservatives Fund and U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan. Looks like he's building a serious team!

Mark Your Calendars!

The Alabama Republican Party primary election is scheduled for May 19, 2026. That's just over 200 days away, folks! Get ready for some political fireworks!

Auburn Snaps Skid with Razorback Rally!

The Auburn Tigers clawed their way to a HUGE road victory against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, staging a thrilling second-half comeback to snag a 33-24 win. This one was much needed, folks!

A Rocky First Half

Things looked dicey early on. Auburn trailed 21-10 at the half after a late pick-six thrown by Jackson Arnold. Ouch! But before that, Cam Coleman made an INSANE one-handed catch for a touchdown, putting the Tigers on the board in spectacular fashion. Seriously, highlight reel stuff! Despite Coleman's heroics, Arkansas grabbed the lead and extended it with Arnold's costly interception.

Daniels to the Rescue!

With his seat getting warmer, Coach Freeze made a gutsy call, swapping Arnold for backup transfer Ashton Daniels at halftime. And BOOM! The offense instantly sparked to life.

Defense Wins Championships (and Games!)

The third quarter saw Auburn chip away at the lead with field goals. But the real heroes were on defense. Down 24-19 with just over nine minutes to go, Rayshawn Pleasant made a season-saving play, intercepting Taylen Green and returning it for a touchdown! Auburn took the lead, and the momentum shifted big time.

Turnover Frenzy Seals the Deal

From there, the Auburn defense went into overdrive. They forced a fumble and Pleasant snagged ANOTHER interception on the following possession. Two more field goals off those turnovers iced the game for the Tigers.

Looking Ahead

While Daniels only threw eight passes, he efficiently managed the game in the second half, completing six for 77 yards without a turnover. Jeremiah Cobb led the ground attack with a whopping 153 yards. With Freeze safe for another week, Auburn now has a chance to keep the momentum rolling with a home game against Kentucky, bringing them closer to bowl eligibility. After a rough stretch, this win was a long time coming. Time to celebrate, Tigers!

Tide Survive Scare in South Carolina

The Alabama Crimson Tide clawed their way to a seventh straight victory on Saturday, battling the South Carolina Gamecocks in a nail-biting contest. It took a fourth-quarter comeback to dodge what would have been another shocking loss to an unranked team under Coach Kalen DeBoer.

Early Promise Fades

The game started promisingly for Alabama, with DaShawn Jones snagging an early pick-six to give the Tide a 7-3 lead and quiet the Columbia crowd. But things quickly devolved into an offensive struggle.

Offensive Woes

The offense sputtered for most of the afternoon. A late first-half touchdown, a Ty Simpson pass to Josh Cuevas on 4th and goal, was a rare bright spot in an otherwise sluggish performance. The offensive line struggled to protect Simpson and open holes for the running game.

Gamecocks Surge

Despite the late touchdown giving Alabama a 14-6 halftime lead, South Carolina stormed back. After stopping Alabama on downs to open the half, the Gamecocks found the end zone and pulled within two. They then took the lead late in the third, 15-14. Then, LaNorris Sellers ran for a touchdown, extending the lead to eight and putting Alabama in serious trouble.

Clutch Drive Fuels Comeback

Facing adversity, Ty Simpson led the offense on a crucial 14-play, 79-yard drive, capped by a Germie Bernard touchdown with just over two minutes remaining.

Trickery Ties It

Needing a two-point conversion to tie, Ryan Grubb dialed up some trickery. Simpson took a handoff from Daniel Hill, rolled out, and found a wide-open Cuevas to tie the game!

Bernard Seals the Win

After a South Carolina fumble, Germie Bernard struck again, this time rushing for 25 yards on 3rd down to put the Tide ahead for good. The Gamecocks were silenced, and the upset bid failed.

Grinding It Out

It wasn't Simpson's best day, but on a day where the offensive line struggled, Alabama found a way to win and head into their bye week undefeated in the SEC.

Looking Ahead

After the bye, the LSU Tigers will come to town, hungry for a signature win. For now, Coach DeBoer's team can savor a 7-1 start to the season.

Professor Sues UA and Auburn Over "Oppressors" Post

A former adjunct professor is taking legal action against both the University of Alabama and Auburn University, claiming wrongful termination. The reason? Comments she made following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Candice Hale, previously with UA’s Department of Gender and Race Studies, is alleging a violation of her First Amendment rights. She's filed suit, asserting her free speech was stifled. Auburn University faces a similar lawsuit from Hale on the same grounds.

The Facebook Post That Sparked Controversy

The day after Kirk's death, Hale reportedly posted a fiery message on Facebook: “I do not mourn oppressors. I do not show them empathy. I don’t give a damn about evil racist, fascist, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, mediocre white men who claim to be Christian individuals and then do everything Christ would not do on Earth.”

The post continued, "I will not mourn the wicked. We are getting closer and closer to the real assignment.”

"A Violation of the First Amendment?"

Hale's attorney, Kira Fonteneau, believes the suits have merit. She argues that as government institutions, the universities infringed on Hale's right to free speech. "We believe the evidence will show that that is a violation of the First Amendment," Fonteneau stated, "and that's why we filed our lawsuit."

Hale recently addressed the situation in an interview, stating, "If Charlie Kirk’s voice can be heard... then the world should be able to hear what Auburn University and what the University of Alabama did to me.”

Pruitt's Coaching Comeback Blocked?

Remember Jeremy Pruitt, the former Alabama defensive guru and Tennessee head coach? Seems his path back to the sidelines is bumpier than expected, thanks to those old pay-for-play accusations in Knoxville.

NCAA Roadblocks

It's not lack of interest holding Pruitt back, but the NCAA! That six-year "show cause" penalty they slapped on him makes hiring him a legal and logistical nightmare for any school. Basically, the NCAA's making it tough to get a job.

Jacksonville State's Interest

Jacksonville State, led by former Alabama/Auburn assistant Charles Kelly, apparently wanted Pruitt as an analyst. But Pruitt's fighting the NCAA's restrictions in court, hinting that JSU's interest is real, but tangled up in red tape.

Legal Battles

Pruitt's already suing the NCAA for a cool $100 million, seemingly trying to get that show cause dismissed. Now, he's adding a letter from Jacksonville State's president and AD to the suit, pleading for permission to hire him without penalty.

Plainview High

While all this unfolds, Pruitt's been keeping busy coaching and teaching PE at Plainview High School.

Will He Coach Again?

Schools are clearly interested in Pruitt despite his messy exit from Tennessee. Whether that interest translates into a real coaching gig? Only time will tell.

Alabama Cracks Down on Opioid Crisis, Sees Overdose Numbers Plummet!

Hold on to your hats, ChumCity citizens! Some seriously good news is coming out of Montgomery. Our state is making major strides in the fight against opioid addiction!

Big Drop in Overdoses!

Legislative leaders are shouting from the rooftops (well, issuing statements, at least!) about a fantastic 30% drop in statewide drug overdoses in the last year. They're giving a huge shout-out to the Oversight Commission on Alabama Opioid Settlement Funds for their hard work.

Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter and Senate President Pro Tempore Garlan Gudger jointly stated, "This shows what can happen when the House and Senate team up to tackle a problem head-on!" They emphasized the real impact: lives saved and families spared from unimaginable grief.

Funding Makes a Difference

Since 2023, the Commission, led by Rep. Rex Reynolds, has been strategically using the state's share of opioid settlement funds to support prevention, treatment, and recovery programs.

Reynolds himself said, "A 30% drop? That's incredible! It's all thanks to the impactful work of this commission." He pointed to things like the 88,000+ Naloxone kits sent to first responders and the commission's evidence-based programs.

Where the Money's Going

Over the past few budget cycles, Alabama has put a whopping $81 million towards fighting the opioid crisis. Here's a peek at some of the initiatives:

  • 88,000+ Naloxone kits for first responders – talk about being prepared!
  • Over 200 prevention and recovery programs getting support.
  • Expanded hours and staff for Alabama's 988 Crisis Lifeline, answering 90% of calls for three straight months!
  • Specialty courts created through an agreement with the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts.
  • A statewide opioid awareness campaign called Opioids Take, reaching almost 2 million Alabamians!
  • 19 pilot programs specifically for veterans.

It's About Real People

Officials are reminding everyone that these aren't just numbers. Behind every statistic is a life saved and a family spared the heartbreak of addiction. Let's keep up the fight, Alabama!

Dems, Ditch the "Karen" Talk?

Word on the street is some folks are telling the Democrats to ditch the progressive stuff that seems to resonate with a certain demographic of white, liberal women ("Karens," allegedly). The idea? Broaden their appeal before the next election cycle. Is this the path to victory?

Comparing Groups to the KKK? Yikes!

Read Freely Alabama pulled a real zinger, comparing groups like the Alabama Policy Institute, Moms for Liberty, and even a majority of Alabamians to the KKK and the Jim Crow era. Talk about inflammatory! Is that really the best way to win people over?

Chip Shortage Hitting Alabama Auto Plants

Hold up! A chip shortage might be slamming Alabama's auto industry. Production cuts are already starting this week, potentially sending workers home and leading to those dreaded "temporary reductions or production suspensions."

Prof Fired for Cheering on... Assassination? Sues!

Remember that Alabama professor who apparently thought it was a good idea to cheer on Charlie Kirk's assassination? Yeah, he's suing both Alabama and Auburn universities, claiming his termination violated his First Amendment rights. Freedom of speech? Or incitement?

Tuberville Declares Montgomery a "War Zone"

Tommy Tuberville, fresh off his football glory days (and brief stint as governor-elect!), is calling Montgomery a "war zone." He's pushing for federal intervention to tackle escalating crime and public safety concerns, claiming the FBI is ready to send in reinforcements. Kash Patel’s on it, apparently.

SNAP Benefits on the Brink: A Political Scramble

SNAP benefits are about to dry up for 750,000 Alabamians, and the political finger-pointing is in full swing. Sen. Katie Britt and the GOP are scrambling to secure funding, blaming Democrats for not caring. Governor Ivey is urging everyone to play nice and end the government shutdown. Can they get it together?

Federal Workers Feeling the Squeeze

The American Federation of Government Employees is pleading with Democrats to pass a "clean" continuing resolution to restore pay and services. The shutdown is hitting hundreds of thousands of employees hard, which is definitely not a good look for the Democrats who seem to be struggling.

Alabama's Got a New Federal Judge!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCity citizens! Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis just got the green light from the U.S. Senate to become a U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama. The vote? A solid 58-40 in his favor!

Back-to-Back Wins for Alabama!

This is actually the second Alabamian to snag a federal judgeship recently. Just last week, Hal Mooty was confirmed as the U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. Talk about a winning streak!

Trump's Pick Now on the Bench

President Trump initially nominated Lewis for the Middle District vacancy back in September, setting the wheels in motion for this exciting appointment.

From State to Federal: A Meteoric Rise

Lewis's journey through the Alabama judiciary has been nothing short of spectacular! He was appointed to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals in 2024 by Governor Kay Ivey, and then, in May 2025, he made history as the first Black Republican justice on the Alabama Supreme Court. Now, he's reaching new heights!

Congratulations Pour In

The news of Lewis's confirmation sparked a wave of celebration from friends and colleagues all over the state. A huge win for Alabama and for Judge Lewis!
