Palmer Questions California's EV Rule Stance!
Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) is putting the heat on California's top environmental agency! He's demanding answers about the state's apparent refusal to acknowledge Congress's recent rollback of three key electric vehicle (EV) standards.
Palmer, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, joined colleagues in sending a pointed letter to the California Air Resources Board (CAR, questioning their continued enforcement of rules that Congress has already overturned.
California's Ignoring Congress?
The letter, spearheaded by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), expresses serious concerns that California and other states following its lead are still enforcing vehicle emission regulations that violate the Clean Air Act.
Remember that the Biden-era waivers that allowed California to set its own stricter standards were axed by Congress earlier this year!
What's the Beef?
The letter alleges that CARB is hinting it will block 2026 vehicle models that already meet California's regular requirements and were approved for sale in 2025, all because they don't meet the extra demands of one set of the now-preempted regulations. Seems a bit unfair, right?
Palmer: Let Consumers Choose!
The House Energy and Commerce Committee even took to social media, stating plainly: "California must follow the law and once again allow consumers to choose the best vehicles for them." Several left-leaning states have also jumped on California's low-emissions bandwagon. Will they listen?
