Justice Served in Brutal Montgomery Robbery Case

Remember that terrifying incident back in March 2025 at Jim Massey’s Cleaners? The owner was brutally attacked and robbed. Well, some justice has finally been served!

Two More Sentenced

Two more men have been sentenced for their roles in the horrific robbery, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson and FBI Mobile Field Office Special Agent in Charge Sara Jones.

The Crime

The thugs not only assaulted Jim Massey III, but they also made off with around $8,000!

The Sentences

On Tuesday, a federal judge handed down a 175-month prison sentence to Spirit Hooks, 51, of Birmingham. Spencer Thomas, 68, of Montgomery, received a 144-month sentence.

The Ringleader

The mastermind, 58-year-old Zedekiah Sykes, was previously sentenced to 195 months on October 23, 2025. He was nabbed in Vegas – along with Thomas!

How it Went Down

Hooks, Thomas, and Sykes (plus another alleged accomplice, Clinton Thompson) reportedly smashed their way into the East South Street business and forced the owner into an office to get at the safe. Thompson is still awaiting his day in court.

No Parole

Keep in mind, the feds don't offer parole, so these guys are doing serious time.

Official Words

Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson stated, "This was a calculated and violent robbery...These sentences reflect the seriousness of the offense..."

Special Agent in Charge Jones added, “These lengthy sentences reflect the gravity of the crimes committed...We are stronger when we work together to combat violent crime.”

Teamwork Pays Off

The FBI, Montgomery PD, ALEA, and the MACS Unit all worked together on the case. Hats off to them! Assistant United States Attorney Joel Feil is handling the prosecution.
