Auburn Mourns Loss in Kiesel Park, Suspect Arrested

The Auburn community is reeling after the tragic death of Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle in Kiesel Park on Saturday. Auburn police acted swiftly, apprehending a suspect in less than 24 hours.

Harold Rashad Dabney III, of Montgomery, is now facing two counts of capital murder in connection with the death of the retired Auburn professor.

Arrest Made Sunday Morning

Early Sunday morning, around 8:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious individual near Beehive Road. Upon arrival, they identified Dabney as the prime suspect and took him into custody. He's currently held at the Lee County Jail without bond.

Beloved Auburn Resident

Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle, 59, was discovered in Kiesel Park around 27 p.m. Saturday. She was enjoying a walk with her dog when a passerby made the heartbreaking discovery and alerted authorities. The community mourns the loss.
